Probably for our EU friends. I have asked many times as to what happens to foreign plated vehicles at the crossing, can UK ANPR cameras even recognise a non UK plate? and then what are the chances of them chasing up a Polish plumber on his way back home?.
Other than that the new system works well, strangely the southbound bridge is always free flowing whilst the north bound tunnels normally have congestion, bit of a mystery why, maybe its the convoys of escorted tankers that cause a hold up. Its also a mystery as to why they feel the need to close one tunnel at night from about 20.00 on, thereby causing even more congestion.

If they use the same as Boris 's lot then yes they can track any EU plated vehicle down. Additionally the crossing is French run , they have access to the dvla database & a friend managed to aquire a French speeding fine in her name ,
on a vehicle being driven by her son in France, & that isn't registered in her name. & the only way they could have obtained her name was through the Dartford crossing system where it was on her account.:sneaky: I wouldn't trust any of them. (n)

Yes you are quite right about the northbound. It is the escorted loads + normally they shut both tunnels using the lights when they do it. Why is anybodies guess. Unless they expect the explosion to affect both .
It is still a shambles northbound although nephew says you are now only queuing 2 miles back now , which is what it was when I was over last year.
You won't get any improvement until the second crossing is built & opened but that is going to be a complete new motorway toll road , double tunnels with a 70mph limit ( so they say ) & paying.

Up-Date!

Today I had £70.00 deposited into my bank account from Dartford Services. My complaint to Dartford Services fell on deaf ears and they insist you follow their procedures (make you jump through hoops) if you want to lodge an appeal.
I wrote to my M.P. and told him they had closed my account without my consent and kept the balance and because my account was closed no email was sent when the PCN was issued resulting in an increased fine upon my return to the UK because this was when I found out a P.C.N. had been issued.
He replied to me that he had been in contact with the Dartford Services C.E.O. citing my case and asking for an investigation. He received a response that this would be completed in 15 days and I expect he (The C.E.O) has looked at my account, payment history etc., etc., and accepted the fine should be returned.
I have thanked my M.P. and suggested to him that perhaps the practise of closing accounts without the account holders consent should be reviewed and it may be worth asking how much money they (Dartford Services) are sitting on from closed accounts ?? That's £70.00 I thought I would never see again. Time to buy a couple of Euromillions tickets.

Have you tried calling them?
After 50 minutes I gave up.
Opened an account, but when it reaches a tenner, it uploads another tenner.
Won't use this in a year.
Would love to know how much interest they are making on all these unused millions.
Should be free and part of the road system.its still a mess and traffic is completely ridiculous sometimes.
As interest rates are at the moment very little. When toll booths were on folk moaned,,now you can do it on line they moan,,what a miserable bloody lot many Brits are.Only happy when they have something to grumble about. MOAN OVER.BUSBY😁😁

It is interesting that some think Dart Charge must be making a fortune in interest from all the money lying in accounts.

If I was Dart Charge it would seem more beneficial to me that you do not open an account as then I am charging you £2.50 instead of the £1.67 per crossing ie +50%.

If you know of any legal means of enabling me to get better return on my £10 than a 30% plus reduction in costs then please tell me. It seems to me if you are going to use the crossing at least once a year its a no brainer.
It’s been £2 for some time. £1.67 ended some time ago.

It may be that the first time the vehicle is "caught out" that they offer the £2.50 option, way to go, saved you a fortune :)
100% true, had the same issue a few weeks ago when I forgot.

Contacted them and they said first time that reg gets caught, you get the 14 days to pay the £2.50.
Next time it will be the £70 (reduced to £35) if paid within 14 days (I think).

Not been over this bridge since they removed the booths .. just as easy for me to drive around the M25 anti-clock and pay nowt .. and mileage to tunnel is around the same. That wat I don't have to worry about forgetting to pay, or depositing my hard earned money in an account that I don't use - giving DART a free loan.

Be far more difficult &time consuming if after the year end they start using the M26 link for lorry parking again forcing you to have to go further round to pick up the M20 junction or even worse the A2.
