We would like to hear from any Funsters who have bought or are considering buying a Westfalia PVC - please comment on this thread or PM us. If you already have one any feedback about who you bought from & the build quality when in use would be helpful. If anyone is considering buying one then please message us as so far we may have two potential orders soon to put forward for quotes & if there was a third or more then we could all benefit from the discount that buying power may offer?! Can only comment on build quality
Frends used to have a Nuget model which was very well screwed together. We tried to buy one as our first van but second hand ones were always thin on the ground in uk.
Dont want to muddy the water but we currently have a Globecar which is also will put together.
All depends on the layout you are after
If you are considering LHD there are lots on Mobile.DE

Thank you @Garfields for your reply. The Globecar Summit 600/640 with its clever new bathroom was top of our wishlist before we looked closely at the Westfalia range but all 2017 Globecar allocation sold out in October & not even one of the Summit model to view in the UK & no guarantees that there will be for 2018 either :( At the October NEC Show Mr Wombles spotted the big garage on the Westfalia Amundsen & Columbus plus the clever rear folding bed & fold out front bed & was smitten! With the high price point we tried to find fault with the other design features or build quality but couldn't .... The challenge is to work out which version & the best specification then buy it at a bargain price  but as demand seems to be more than supply once again this is not proving to be an easy task. As we tend to use the motorhome mostly in the spring/summer in the UK then get cheap flights & apartment for a bit of winter sun RHD is more suitable for us but agree lots more options on Mobile.de Link Removed for those wanting LHD - especially for year old demonstrators (y)

Hi Wombles. We Have always had westfalia from the splitty, T25, California,Exclusive,Florida and they have all been fabulous.
The build quality is second to none. Cant recommend them enough, the new one looks amazing. We needed extra room for the family so had to buy a big motorhome but would have another in a shot..

As Westfalia is now owned by the Rapido group we are getting the best prices from their dealers rather than those listed as Westfalia?! Any feedback about good deals or service from Rapido dealers here or elsewhere in Europe would be helpful please.

@laird of Dunstan bought his Rapido in Belgium.
Dumo in Germany have a good reputation and are used to exporting a couple of members have bought from them and they give good trade in prices if you have a LHD. They will obtain any van for you.

In January this year we were nogotiating with Dumo in Germany for a Globecar pvc. The main issue for us was the delivery time for an RHD model of at the time August, which in retrospect was reasonable. The discount they offered was not what I wanted, but at the time the pound was starting to drop against the euro, having peaked at something like 1.47 to the pound. They offered a bigger discount against the almost identical Possl, but since that brand is not sold in the UK, I prevarocated and by then the pound was dropping more. In the end, we got a good price on a UK van, and bought that. But Dumo seemed OK to deal with, but the price advantage in buying direct from Germany is not what it was, by a long way. I did consider the Westfalia, but preferred the Globecar, having seen them at SW Motorhomes in Illminster.

Depends on the van, we offset most of the exchange rate fluctuation by trading in, ours was with a Belgium dealer. Got about 12k more as a trade in than what UK dealers would offer and a very good discount on the new van we will be better off by around 25k regardless of what the exchange rate is.

Some good responses so far from Belgium & Germany but French dealerships don't seem to be interested.

Belgium and Germans are used to exporting to the UK, apart from a couple of dealers in Calais area very few have done it, probably out of their comfort zone.

If there are any Funsters considering a Westfalia (any model) then please get in touch as we are currently getting good quotes for buying 2 (as individual transactions) with fellow members so just think how much it might be for all of us if we could make that 3!
