Hi

We have just bought Cotswold EB we love the van but have just been away without electric hook up, we had our solar panel taken off the old van and put on the new one plus two 100amp batteries, problem is when we use the diesel heating the batteries only last about six hours then heating is switched off and low battery light comes on, is this the normal with diesel heating

Thanks

Dianne:cry:

The heating on my van (gas not diesel though) draws up to 6amps.
The only diesel fired heater I have is the one that boosts the cab heating but this only works with the engine running so perhaps drains the battery.
I'm sure someone with real knowledge will be along shortly.

Hi

Don't know the power consumption, but was advised not to go for diesel heating if not on EHU, assumed that they take a lot of power from that so did not bother to go into the question any deeper.

PM me with your email address and I'll send you a copy of the manual I have which indicates power consumption (Assuming its an Eberspacher Airtronic.) Start up (fuel ignition) does take a large amount of power. How often this happens depends on your thermostat setting.
