Are showers in MH's a waste of space? (1 Viewer)

With space being at a premium in a Motorhome do you think the shower is a bit of a waste of space?

As we stick to proper sites with full amenities we always use their showers which are much more spacious rather than banging around in our own tiny cubicle.
Obviously if your into wild camping then it's either a dip in the local river, lake or stream or use your own shower.

I just think the space could be used more efficiently, what do you think

I wouldn't even think for a nano second about having a motorhome without a shower...

Using a shower that total strangers also use?

Use our full size shower all the time even when on site unless facilities are exceptional.
Van without a shower thats called a tent I think.

I'm with Mr JJ on this one. We never stay on "proper" sites if we can possibly avoid it so the shower in the van is used all the time. Absolutely essential for us.

For our type of motor home use a shower and toliet is the one thing we could not do with out even when on sites the first thing Elaine does is inspect the showers and loo and if she don't like it then it's back to the vans facility's and that happens 50% of time

Well we do, I have a duck board down in the shower and use it 99% of the time for storage. But it's there when needed.

Don't really understand the reluctance of some to use a shower that someone else has used if it is clean, what exactly are you going to catch, use flip flops if worried about foot born infections.

Obviously if not using sites then using your own shower would be difficult to avoid.

Why would you want to share a shower cubicle with other people ?

A lot of CL's/ CS's don't have shower blocks
BritStops don't offer showers
If you accidentally end up on a site where there's a rally/ school group/ etc then having your own facilities may be the only way you can get near the water (being wrinklies, we never ever ever use a site during school holidays!!!)
We also use the shower room for storage on the move (stuff that lives in the front seat-well when we're parked up, like the laundry bag)
And as we don't have a lot of work surface, I "collect" the dirty dishes in there until after a meal

I for one could not be bothered to walk from the MH to a toilet or shower block.
Just spent the last week in France staying on Aires without our own facilities we would be bunged up and smelly

A site could have the nicest shower block, but if there is plenty of water nearby, we'll use the shower in the van. A van without a shower may as well be a tent.

It's not a waste of space because most only take up the same space that you need for a toilet, the shower tray being the floor.

What about the toilet, beds, heater,cooker,lights,wardrobe,storage..............

A Motorhome without a shower is a CamperVan .
...and limits where, when & how long one can pitch... and cost.
A full facility MH = freedom of choice .
Showerless limits freedom.

Apart from all the good reasons given above my wife has some mobility problems which mean it takes a little time to "get going in the mornings." Being able to step out of bed into a hot shower, without walking to the toilet block, is not a luxury, it's essential!

I use our shower most of the time and rarely use the facilities on the site. I find it much more convenient being able to step out of the shower and dress in my own van or wrap up in a towel and have a brew while I dry my hair.
