At Chatsworth just now, very busy and lots going on in park as horse trials start tomorrow so will probably be a nightmare getting out as we leave then. It's ok but bit busy for us.

What about the one @jonandshell mentioned at Winnats Pass - can walk down into Castleton depending how far it is......don't know the site thoughAny non CC ones?

Nice site in Hope village within walking distance of CastletonThere's a CS but you have to be a C&CC member to use that.
Other than that there is a private site just down the road in Hope but I don't know anything about it.

We found the Peak Inn to be very good for food.

Thanks we have heard of another route to avoid Castleton so may do that
It was all muddy boots and muddy dogs when we were there its been done up but we found it friendly and welcoming. But there are plenty of other optionsWe thought it had all gone very up market - nearly all used to be muddy boots & dogs welcome but the Friday afternoon just seemed to be an influx of folks with wheeled suitcases, that's all you could hear, clattering along the pavements

We have seen MH wild camping on that old mam Tor road but not sure if it is allowed now.@Jac Sprat not sure how far you may be walking/exploring but a wander down the old road in front of Mam Tor is interesting - it was closed (poss 70's/80's) due to one land slip too many and is being left to Mother Nature.
Also the walk along the tops - Mam Tor to Hollins Cross is really nice & great views (if you feel really fit carry on to the end and back down into Hope) there are some pics in my media
Thought there was signs up last time we walked down there but suppose it's if you want to risk it. We saw more police cars there last time than we have done in 30 odd years - no idea why.We have seen MH wild camping on that old mam Tor road but not sure if it is allowed now.
