There's some cracking pie shops in Skipton, down near he canal where you can book onto nice genteel canal boat trips.
Harrogate is a bit more gentrified.... lots of nice Victorian architecture... Betty's Tea Room if you can stretch to the ridiculous prices (but good old-fashioned service).

Harrogate is rather posh and there's plenty o brass there They have Betty's Cafe where you need a mortgage to sit down. The Gt Yorkshire Showground and the Stray. Knaresborough is close by and well worth a visit :thumb:
Skipton is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and has a castle, a good market, the Leeds Liverpool Canal and a nice fish & chip shops. :thumb:

Grassington is close to Skipton and is very nice. Plus it's a cracking road from Skipton, through Grassington, Pateley Bridge, Knaresbrough and then Harrogate (or reverse if you're stopping at Harrogate first).
