I personally prefer the camera to be on whilst travelling so I can see what is going on behind me at all times.. I wired my camera(s ) to the 12v feed to the fridge so they only come on when the ignition is on..

Only pitfall I have ever had using wireless is when you get close to someone with a more powerful camera .. Most memorable was when the motorcycle trailer suddenly became a speed boat whilst on a German autobahn !! Took me a good couple of seconds to realise what was happening  ( and it is surprising how many times this has happened... Even got a picture of a childs cot once when sitting in traffic in a town ::bigsmile: )

wireless cameras were designed for cars and not motorhomes as already said stronger signals can give you an incorrect signal, they can in some cases remove a picture altogether. I don't know anyone with one still fitted to a motorhome as they tend to be replaced with fully wired ones PDQ. Lots of info in other threads, you only have to look.
Anyway good luck you could always relegate it to being an internal cam just to check on what is flying around when you hear a noise behind you, hee hee.

I had a wireless one on my last van. They do suffer from interference and on one occasion I had my rear view briefly replaced by someone's video. I'd get a wired one if I was you.

Surely running a wire right from the front to the back somewhat defeats the object of having a wireless camera ?

If you have a multimeter, you can find the feed to the fridge easy enough
Remove the lower vent and all the wiring will be right in front of you.

Often, builders use a yellow wire to feed the unit.. Whatever the colour it will be a fairly thick wire going to a con block.

Start the van and check all the feeds going to the fridge
Turn the van off and check again.. One will proly remain live ( that one usually feeds the fridge light ) but the other will be dead.

Hook up the camera live to the one that went dead when the ignition went off.. The earth can go pretty much anywhere but if you are running a 'pair' from the camera you might as well use the fridge earth for that at the same time :thumb:

Digital wireless cameras

Most wireless cameras are quite badly prone to interference but there are some excellent digital cameras out there that are used in the construction industry which do not suffer with interference, have a look at this website:
