On a totally different tack. I've just spent 3 days at the marina aire in Rouen. It's a great city to explore. Lots of history and a beautifull cathedral.

Isn’t that a toll road though?take the A29 E44 motorway towards L Harve.
That sounds good, I'll have the map out shortlyWhen, a few years ago a fuel tanker caught fire on the bridge, that nearly all take through Rouen, we were forced to find an alternative route, the bridge actually twisted and sagged under the extreme heat. The way we found best was, around 32km before Rouen take the A29 E44 motorway towards L Harve. At junction 9 take the exit toward Yevtot on the D929 and follow signs to Pont de Brotonne, D131 and D490, after the bridge stay on the road D490 onto D913 then the D313 which is straight route from Yvetot to the A13 E46 motorway, then follow signs for whichever way you need to go, we always take the A28 E402 to Le Man's and onward. We find it so easy, about 8 miles further but often hours quicker.
Yes it is, I've been travelling through France for leisure pleasure and business for almost 50 years, its the only way to travel, Rouen is about the only city that doesn't have a ring motorway system and until it does it will be a pigs ear most of the time to motorists.Isn’t that a toll road though?
Looking at a larger scale map, it looks like your suggested route doesn't actually go onto the toll road if leaving the A28 at junc.11... looks OK.Yes it is, I've been travelling through France for leisure pleasure and business for almost 50 years, its the only way to travel, Rouen is about the only city that doesn't have a ring motorway system and until it does it will be a pigs ear most of the time to motorists.

Maps are the way to do. Being a retired rally navigator it is the only way to go. Sat nav iis too lazy.Looking at a larger scale map, it looks like your suggested route doesn't actually go onto the toll road if leaving the A28 at junc.11... looks OK.
Always plot my routes on a map, then transfer to satnav..Maps are the way to do. Being a retired rally navigator it is the only way to go. Sat nav iis too lazy.
You can take the junction before onto D929 towards Totes, went that way once, found it tedious but may suit if not in a hurry.Looking at a larger scale map, it looks like your suggested route doesn't actually go onto the toll road if leaving the A28 at junc.11... looks OK.

.... but that's only OK if you have a new(er) vehicle absolutely no good for older vans like mine. It’s simple, down the hill towards Rouen and keep left, take the next right onto the D6015 direction Pont de l’ Arche.
One of the reasons I bought a newer van..... but that's only OK if you have a new(er) vehicle absolutely no good for older vans like mine.

If you keep to the motorway you'll be OK, as you don't actually touch Le Mans. If you are going to makexa habit of travelling through Europe then a toll tag is a good idea, I got mine from Emovis who have uk office in Harrogate. Thanks all, I had already pencilled in going up to Yvetot so you have confirmed that for me, no choice as I won't be allowed through Rouen. Hopefully no issues with crit air when passing Le Mans!
Thank you Bodoge, just looking at tags now, for ease of payment more than anything. If you keep to the motorway you'll be OK, as you don't actually touch Le Mans.
