Hi CharlieFirstly let me say thank you all very much for the best wishes. It kinda helps knowing you have people on your side..
Unfortunately Lady Luck was not on our side . We have been delivered a crushing blow which I'm far to upset to talk about..
Thank you all very much.

I suggest you unpack all your stuff and go back to your normal life.
Stick the house back on the market and make it clear that you will need 4 weeks between exchange of contracts and completion.
Then only pack the ruddy stuff back into boxes when you exchange contracts and not before.
Living out of boxes is probably causing half the stress.
Having had our house upside down with builders in for the last few months I can see how it affects you.
Chris it's not that simple. As I said above I would throw in the towel but it's not my health that's deteriorating. I must admit I am very depressed and am if I'm totally honest struggling. But it's perhaps me bieng selfish feeling so bad.
We do of course have no real option though but to do as you advise. This means it's going to be hard to get away. We shelved our plans to go away already due to what's been going on now if looks like for the foreseeable it's standby again..
One thing I can't understand is why two people and by that I mean the party that is the bottom of the chain allow the rest of us to shell out for solicitors surveyors land registry searches and all the rest of it when they had no intention to complete.. It's baffling me . I know we aren't the first or the last to experience this of course...
The money is not the concern though but still I'm buggered if I can work out why this stupid system allows such let downs and grief...

I agree.
I forgot to add to my earlier post that you should just assume that at least one party in the chain are time wasters.
Maybe delay your survey / searches a bit next time?
Let the rest of the chain wait for you for once.
Good luck - it will happen
Everyone should pay deposited up front if you back down you lose it , they would think twice then !

Ditto.Charlie, sorry to hear your bad news. I hope that getting it off your chest on here has helped a little and that it all gets sorted very soon.
Chris. We have our buyer and the bottom of the chain is the first time buyer.
Both parties had thier surveys done many weeks ago when we had our offer accepted on a property. They had also instructed solicitors and I think but not sure had the land registry thing done. So they had invested.
The property then fell through. Our purchase that was.
So having found another property ourselves about six weeks ago why would we wait ? The people we were to buy off by the way we're going into rented.
So a short chain. First timers. Our buyer. Us. And our vendor.
In effect mate they were waiting for us.
