Hi
My Benivan has the Xzent system fitted but it does not talk to the buttons on the steering wheel. It will be into the dealers for this and other warranty work. Before they try to con me - the steering wheel buttons are not designed to work - have anybody one of these Fiat based Campervans built in Grimsby with this system and am I right that the steering wheel should talk to Xzent.
TIA. Don

Not sure how old your van is but below is on Benivan's website for the latest models and it states controls on steering wheel.

Audio System
  • 7” Touch Screen SAT NAV, DAB Radio with MP3 player, USB connection, Bluetooth handsfree and Rear Observation Camera
  • Media function controlson steering wheel

Now why didn’t I look there?? Thanks
Don

You may find that the Xzent unit needs to be programmed for the steering wheel controls to operate.

I got extremely miffed with my Autotrail until I did a RTFM which surprise surprise told me how to set up the controls. I was a bit surprised the dealer hadn't picked up on the lack of programming during their PDI as you'd hope they would have checked buttons actually did something as they worked around the cab.

Go to the menu settings on the Xzent, the steering wheel buttons can be programmed from there.

Thanks, thebriars, I will try that tomorrow

Tell me more about this xzent unit. Model number? Cost? Where to buy?

Thanks!

Russ

I have just received this direct from the dealer

Are these any good and what’s the Digital radio like.

The DAB on mine is fairly poor. I lose reception a lot. But that may be the aerial rather than the radio part. I find a lot of digital radio is poor as you either get enough of a signal or it’s nothing. Realistically fm is better in moving vehicles.

nothing really wrong with it but I prefer the Tom Tom type sat navs. Still haven’t really worked out how thexzent unit is trying to tell me a faster alternate route exists and if that is coming from general radio traffic alerts or a more dynamicphone data service.

If their charges are anything like what they used to be you'd be cheaper buying a new sat nav every year!

Thanks - the briars
All sorted but the instructions were not in the manual. As previously mentioned- dealers should have done this on their PDI

We had the same issue on a Xzent 4222 in our T-line 590, dealer said "the vehicle was not compatible" but after a little research, I found that there were wires behind the head unit marked "IR IN" which weren't connected, after connecting them, the wheel controls now work.
