X250 Ducato Boxer Relay Windscreen

Autoglass?
Independant?

Guesses invited :LOL::mad:

A little more enlightenment.
We had a new windscreen quite a few years ago by Autoglass. Right from the start it became obvious that the useless tw@t had fitted it badly and for years we've put up with a buzz when driving at speed or worse into a crosswind. It was never convenient to have it refitted even thought Autoglass charged the insurance £1000 plus my excess.

I have just acquired a quote to fit on site at storage for...................?

I nearly fell off my chair in disbelief

So 2k then?
If it is more than autoglass insurance price I am shocked. A few clients have told me they have been told if you did it outside insurance would cost less.

Take a seat!

£140
I said what about labour?
£140 plus VAT £168 all in
I knew Autoglass in collusion with insurance companies were crooked but Just cannot believe the difference

Wozzer I knew the same but that it a bloody joke.
Plenty if peeps will have a 250 or 500xs and pay that when making a claim.
I agree I am gobsmacked.
Wonder how much an A Class window would be ...

Another guy on our storage paid £340 a couple of years ago so I expected maybe £400
I wonder what Autorobbers charge today

It was just coincidental that I was putting van back in storage and one of the company fitters was fixing his caravan window, hence me showing him my problem and getting a quote (y). I have new LHD scuttles on order and then I'll book him

I was given a quote of £175 at end of last year fitted at storage location or £150 at their place through an independent.

As my screen is costing so much less I have bought new left hand drive scuttles from Nick at Coastal motorhomes at £124 delivered. Special order.
Will book glass fitting for next week
They stock RHD Same price Or maybe a little less

Wow that is peanuts, it's about time the great insurance swindle of motorhome windscreens was stopped. A class the worst of all, There are very rich people around in the chain.

Screen going in on Saturday and he confirms I do not need to remove the blinds
Autoglass told me I did and it’s not a small job to do tw@ts

When I started to read this thread, I imagined at first, the “now retired” in your tag line being removed as you sought some extra funds:D2

6K via Autoglass last year.

Autoglass charged our insurers just over £1,000 to replace my A class screen last year. I know because I was in discussion with them about getting an OEM screen, which it turned out it was, and they happened to let it out of the bag at one point. A Hymer dealer can get it straight from Hymer and charge you about £1500 including VAT. Again I know because I got my dealer to give me a price for supply only. So A class screens are not as expensive as many people think.

Screen went in OK this aft. Craig did a good job in under 2 hrs. I gave him £200 :)

Now I have a new screen I guess I need a new Umwelt plaket :( for Germany

Do I need anything for Belgium France Spain and Portugal ? might not be able to see through the flippin glass

Andy at the moment it's only Madrid in Spain, but it will come the same as everywhere else, here you just take your V5 in the post office and its about €4.50, we also got one for the car, and last week we had to have a new windscreen, I said oh well probably will never go in the car so won't bother, the chap got it off along with the itv sticker. (y)
You can book a appointment on line, ;) but just in case we had any thing lost in translation we popped in, just show the insurance he put the screen in and nothing to pay. (y)

He then said they are doing an offer this month and fitted new Bosch wiper blades for free.

We then had a pleasant surprise a couple of days later we had rain, and when the front wipers are on and you selected reverse the rear wiper wiped , this is a 2002 Opal corsa. Bob.

I found I never needed the German one anyway as even for Cologne there is a route to the Stellplatz avoiding the zone. Do I really need one for anywhere if avoiding city centres?

We have been in a few zones in Germany, the trouble we found was they are not very well marked, and once past the first sign you don't see anymore, and we think oh well for €5 Or so we don't get a fine, but with our little van we go everywhere. Bob.

Windscreen got a good test today from Leeds to Crystal Palace. Quite windy and fast driving created not a murmur which proves the previous glass had been badly fitted by the clown at Autoglass.
