I have just bought an adapter to connect my phone to the vehicle without plugging it in. I've only just set it up but it is working perfectly. Lazy I know, but it should save a bit of hassle 😉

It is easier and can be very convenient when moving the phone. We have wireless Android Auto build in on the Ducato Uconnect head unit. However, if you plug your phone in anyway to charge it, there is little benefit!

Do you have a link for that? I charge mine wirelessly and it's a cable faff to get Android auto.

We've been away for a month through France and Spain using Android Auto for the maps. Heads-up - going through the peage (tolls) it will disconnect and sometimes doesn't come back! It's the same with wireless Carplay apparently - the power from the toll/peage readers turns off the wifi.

We have never had that problem. Been through many toll barriers with readers and it's never disconnected.

For those of us without iThings, there are Android ones too ;)

I've had one of the first Android Auto wireless dongles in the van to give me wireless Android Auto for the past couple of years. AAWireless, cost about £90 at the time. It's generally been very reliable. But it does drop out. It's not random, it's at very specific locations. Often motorway service stations. I think the wireless link across the carriageway interferes?

I recently got a random brand one (Curako) for the car. It seems to work just as well, if not better. I've not had any dropouts yet.
