First post, so please be kind! Also, if this is in the wrong section then I apologise.

We have a Peugeot New Life motorhome which we bought second hand earlier this year. Ace motorhome which is perfect for us. We have a massive problem however......

The windows are all knackered! They have arms on them which, in theory, click at the desired angle of opening to hold the window open, and then you lift the window right up and they close. None of these arms work. Also, 2 of the windows have completely broken - the large window in the 'lounge flew right open when I was driving over the Humber bridge - the outside layer sheared off and pulled the inner layer off with it. I had to have a police escort along the motorway til we found a garage that sold tape so I could tape it up to her home. Then, 2 days later, EXACTLY the same thing happened to the bathroom window, but that did actually snap clean off. We now have a taped on layer of thick plastic instead of a window.

We are struggling to source new windows, which we definitely need for the lounge and bathroom, and also cannot find the 'arms' that we need to repair the other ones. Can anyone please help us to find windows and arms?

Thanking all who read this in advance.

Liz

You need to identify the make of window if you can and then try Magnums Motorhomes at Grimsby or O’Learys who are just outside Hull, both have websites.

Thank you....how do I identify the windows?

All the parts you need should be fairly easy to locate, the small fasteners are probly made by Seitz (Dometic). As you do not say where you are, but I guess somewhere near Hull, Google 'replacement motorhome windows uk' where there are several companies to contact. Tell them vans Marque and window size, Seitz sell almost everything to do with windows.

There should be a manufacturers marking on the outside of the window. If not, you'll need to contact Ace motorhomes or a dealer who sells Ace.

I bought replacement arms off the shelf from a caravan dealer's shop. I took an old one as a pattern.

Most windows are standard sizes available from m/h and caravan window specialists. They can be quite expensive. There are many hundreds of s/h ones available from caravan breakers. (Google is your friend here).

Tip:
Never leave home without a roll of gaffer tape!
(Yes I know; experience is something you get just after you needed it).

We are struggling to source new windows,
I needed to have a new window made as none were available any longer new or s/h for my 1995 m/h.
It was about 40" long x 20" deep. I had it made by EECO and it cost about £350.

(This is the broken one. A market trader in France reversed his van into it and drove off).

I live in Northants, I had been away for the weekend with some mates when the Humber Bridge disaster happened! Thank you all SO much. Today will be spent googling!

That is very true! We always say that we learn something new each time we go away! If windows could be repaired with fairy lights we would have had no problem!! We now have a well stocked tool box in the van, with all manner of tapes and ties!

I contacted about 20 breakers in my search for a window. Some had lists of /h stock on a website but most seemed to work from a shed in a field with only a mobile phone and were difficult to contact.
Good luck!

Welcome! I suggest you take some photos with your phone as these will be useful to send to possible suppliers to confirm suitability of any replacements.

You could also post them on here. Folk might be able to help.

I assume you have a SEA New Life motorhome? If you can find info/photos of your particular one on the web and post a link here we might be able to advise you what windows you have and where to get replacements, same with the arms.
