I'm treating rust on our camper and am peeling off strips of what appears to be plastic type paint. I assume it is used as it is more resistant to stone damage in the wheel arches and along the edge of the body at the base of the vehicle.
Some of this paint is hiding areas of rust. I'm cutting it back, exposing the rusty areas, treating them and now wondering what to use as a covering. Should I used an white anti rust paint (which I have already) or use some plasticised type paint, similar to what is on there now. If so, what paint would you recommend?
I am also planning to drill some holes in the back of the sills, spraying in phosphoric acid to treat rust (which is coming through the paintwork in places, spraying in some surplus anti rust paint and finishing with a layer of white grease to stop further rust from developing. I'll use tape to cover the holes for the next year and if this treatment stops further rust appearing, will fill the holes properly and paint with the above recommended paint.
