Hoping to take our grandson away this weekend, was looking for sites that are open this time of year.

Hoping to travel 1-2 hrs max from Glasgow.

6 year old difficult to keep entertained so rural CLs of no use at this time of
year. Anything near towns or attractions would be helpful

Anybody got any ideas?

The caravan club has a site in Strathclyde Country Park, but this is possibly too close. The C & CC site at Moffat is also open all year but not sure if this would give the sort of activities you are looking for.

I think the Moffat site is closed until March for much needed upgrading.and, there is not tooooo much to do in Moffat for a little one!

The Moffat site isn't closing until January according to the clubs December magazine.

Sandy Balls in the New Forest is a great off season site with kids but alas you would have to allow a tad more than two hours to get there.(y)

CC site at marine drive in Edinburgh. Lots of things to see and do and there is a bus service from the door.

Nice site, but it's just outside an industrial estate and a good walk to town, excellent for adults looking to spend a day in Edinburgh but not sure what's about for a 6 yr old kid, apart from maybe the Brittania yatch if he's into boats and that only takes up a couple of hours, or the zoo

Have a look on ukcampsite.co.uk One of the search options is "open all year"

Industrial estate? It's bounded by a golf course and open parkland to the shore of the Firth of Fourth. There is some industry at Granton but it's a good bit from the site.

You have the castle in Edinburgh and plenty for kids to do. Broken Link Removed has Santa land and also a kids market.

Oh, so no chance of you popping in to see us at Parc Verger, darn it! You could always come and have Christmas here - "HE" has joined us for the Champagne/Bucks fizz reception so none of us miss out!

I would agree with Edinburgh CC site, a shortish walk to the beach and bus in to Edinburgh for "Santaland" lots to do (take money). Broken Link Removed
