We arrived in France in the 27th of January this year. Spent several days travelling through France and entered Spain on the 4th of February, down on the bottom of France near Perpignan. Been in Spain since and only seen 1 other Uk Motorhome. Where are you all, loads of French, German and Dutch motorhomes. All here is as usual, sunshine, cheap fuel, municipal parking places, friendly people, loads of space and quiet roads?

We have been touring Brittany and Normandy for ten days so far and have seen three other Brit units. Very quiet altogether here at present.

I live in central Brittany and over the last 6 to7 years have seen a significant decline in UK plates (cars and MHs) in the area during summer (and at other times) and that has been even more drastic in the last 2 years.
That said I have noticed an increase in Dutch, German, and Belgian visitors.
Oh well, Enjoy your holiday.

You are not far enough South, most of us know where the warmth is and it’s not in France or Northern Spain.
Oh yes it is

Despite forecasts of 16c it was 20c in javea

A lot probably cannot be bothered with all the firm filling etc

Yep, that's me. I simply CBA'd with it.
I've just been spending more time than usual with my several other equally enjoyable hobbies.
The m/h is there in my drive ready to go for when I fancy a trip.

Only seen 2 other UK Plated Moho's in over 2 months, Santander - Praia du Luz - Tarifa and up the Coast towards Malaga...

As you well know you are nowhere near France or even Northern Spain and only around 26 miles North of where I am and it was very warm this afternoon. 👍
Yes, but for some odd reason, some people class Roses to Alicante/Murcia as "Northern Spain" along with Cantabria, Basque etc

I was only think yesterday of starting a thread with the same name, I’m in Torrox on a site have not had another UK van on it since Christmas. I see the odd one on the road but that’s it.

That's got me totally (more) confused...

I live in the Algarve Portugal plenty of Dutch and German very few UK plates.
I think getting over here is a bit of a pain at the moment at least I hope that's what it is we miss the Brit humour. 😁

We are in Riomar north of Denia. Three vans here. One form Scotland. One from Wales and one from England. We have been here for many years however this year no other vans from the countries of Britain have arrived. Brexit dividend?

We ve been in Spain since mid December, there are plenty of brits about in the usual spots but nowhere near as many as normal. Benidorm businesses are really feeling it. Some of it is the 90/180 ( this has really hit the hotels) but also because Macron has made it so difficult to come through France. We got through the day before his announcement but had the testing etc which is still going on. OK the Spanish boats are pretty full but lots of folk won't do bay of biscay this time of year.

It's fair to say that parts of Spain are really busy though, mostly because the Morocco ferries still aren't open to tourists. Many of the vehicles here are obviously normally in Morrocco by now.

Having just got over 4 ops for cancer and waiting another, plus having to fill in AHC for our two dogs and Covid is still with us, France had higher rates of Omricon than us, it puts us off going abroad. Many of our friends are staying in the U.K. too. There is so much rule changing by governments as well, if you are retired it’s easier if things change but if you work it’s probably not worth the hassle. We’ve got a ferry booking in June, brought forward from two years ago, but doubt we will be going. Baring in mind that many of the snowbirds are older and probably have health issues, no doubt they are not prepared to take the risk, yes other countries have stricter rules on mask wearing etc, however I think people are still nervous about travelling. Good luck to those that do, but it’s not for me this year.

Given that there has been a pandemic, travel restrictions with additional costs people wanting to protect themselves and others it’s unsurprising many have decided to postpone trips. Which is reflected by the number of people booking campsites B&B’s Glamping and cottages in the U.K.

A U.K. break can be a great way to relax, we have just spent a week in Norfolk in a rented cottage we could have gone away in the MoHo but it’s a different experience and have returned chilled relaxed and enjoyed walking on a beach with winds up to 50mph was all rather exhilarating and makes you feel alive. We can wait until it warms up and chill out in Europe it’s just a different break not necessarily better

Wherever you are whatever you are doing enjoy and have fun 😎👍

Hope all goes well with your next op and the cancer goes into remission.

Big reduction of Brits in France, Spain etc and HUGE increase in use of UK club sites, CLs, private sites etc. not at all surprising given the last two years of health concerns but also the b****y bureaucracy by Governments, constant change of direction by a would-be Napoleon, form filling, cost and hassle of various testing regimes AND the big rise in cost of channel crossings.
I have had to change dates of bookings and crossings, find testing companies that aren’t trying to rip us off, take so many tests it’s become an addiction!!!!!
However, off to France in MH for 5 weeks end of May and visiting more of the UK while waiting. Let’s hope Macron gets his comeuppance at their next elections.

Went to Conkers C&CC site last weekend at it was pretty full mainly with MHs despite the weather being crap, looking through the various booking websites amazed at how few vacancies there are in UK at the moment.

I have emailed, tweeted and spoke to Brittany ferries and asked why they have not increased capacity on the Spanish routes.

Al they say is that the logistics are difficult.

But if they got through those difficult logistics, surely they could recover some losses.

But then I don’t understand how their business works

Booked the ferry to Bilbao at the weekend, it avoids spending any money in Macronville, so no Angles Mort stickers on the van. plus a day and a night on a mini cruise, to the sun.
Then down to Tarragona, and beyond.

You would think that their Plymouth roscoff boat could fairly easily be rejigged. I wonder if they get a subsidy so have to provide the service.

Yes, I always say anything on the med is southern Spain.

But the brits who live or holiday in Costa del Sol often refer to costa Blanca, costa de Valencia, costa del azahar, costa dorada and costa brava as “northern Spain”.

But then most of them have never heard of “costa tropical”

We’ve been in SE Spain since the beginning of December, and there’s definitely been lack of British. The Germans and Dutch I’ve spoken to have asked us where are all the British. Well it’s been all the rule changing that’s put people off. You couldn’t even cross the channel in mid December due to French border lockdown. We got away just in time. Our friends that followed us had to make so many changes and Covid-19 tests it cost them an arm and a left leg. He needed the right leg to drive.
However, we have seen an increase in British over the last week or two. It’s no wonder people are staying home, things just change so quickly that they just give up. Hopefully each Covid-19 wave is going to get less of a problem and things will return normal, or as normal as the 90 day rule will allow.
