Of to Europe hopefully mid September plan to do Mosel Austrfia then down south Spain etc
Obviously all changeable right now but

I normally take a trailer with my motorbike on the back and this trip is going to be more of a tour around make it all up on the Hoff using Stellplatz and Aires park 4 night etc and some camp sites

Over a 2 month period

Cant decide whether to ditch the trailer and bike as it will be a pain when using the above night stops because of parking space

Could take the bike instead but do like have the motorbike

Its really the space when parking that I think could be a pain

Whats the consensus

Cheers

Everywhere you go you will look at the local area and say "we could pop up there if we had brought the bike."

Conversely you might find yourself saying, "Look we could have pulled in there if we hadn't brought the trailer."

Solution; get a rig where the bike goes in the Garage.
Good luck with the trip whichever way you go

Motorbike would be nice for exploring an area if you stop for a while but I don't find the need so great on the continent. More freedom without a trailer and less worry. Take a cycle, but you may not use that either.
If you work out the cost of using local transport, you'd have to use a lot to cover the cost of a motorbike & trailer. Maybe time to ditch the idea and save a lot of hassle/payload.

E bike is a good medium between. But understand that is additional cost.

In France trailers appear to be much more excepted, but more complicated in Germany where the Moho areas are more defined, with lines, boarders. Obviously not all, but some. We watched two settups on our last day in Germany where they had to move on as no room for trailers, but if no trailer they could have stopped.

We gave up taking a big bike on a trailer.. The crunch came the year we did ( among other places ) Hungary
We used the push bikes a lot but in 6 weeks the bike was never taken off the trailer.
We had done and seen pretty much all things we wanted to without the motorbike coming in to play
I sold the trailer, bought a carrier for the bake of the van and a 125 scoot.. Have def NOT regretted the move.. The scoot gets used an awful lot, it does not hamper us in the way a trailer did, and of course the chunnel/ ferries are way cheaper

How about a couple of fold up electric bikes, there’s a couple of them for sale in the Classifieds section at what appears to be a very good price.

Problem solved :

mmmm the BMW GSA might be a tight squeeze through the had door on the Burstner

Re a bigger garage I did have the bigger Burstner nearly 9 metres with large garage but could only get a scooter in there

So unless you have several £100,000 of pounds its trailer or nowt

My van cost less than a fifth of that🙂 - see post #7
