Hiya can someone tell me what this sort of sliding peg is for on my habitation door fly screen many thanks plumb

It looks like one of the cords for the screen has come adrift as there shouldn't be any dangling cords but without known exactly what your screen is like it's difficult to say.

If you mean the cord it's one that goes horizontally across the pleats to control them. Broken. Mine has broken too so a new screen or fix?

There are threads about fixing them. If you look at the horizontal cords you may see one that is missing.

Yes sorry I am late replying didn't find your replies until now thank you for that I have now had a new screen fitted but the thing I was referring to is difficult to see on the photo it can just be seen on the bottom right a sort of lozenge shape and slides up and down in the frame

It probably just locked the screen in place somehow when it was there.

When mine broke the first time ,I removed the screen and laid it flat carefully split the frame and found the snapped cord ends and tied them together ,rebuilt the door and lasted a good three years before snapping again .I was lucky and with a funster and a number about five of us at a meet managed to repair it to perfection .allthough very grateful to the Funster who knew what he was doing ,I cannot mention his name to avoid him being inandated with funsters requesting help .I will say if you take the door apart do it with care on a flat surface .Enjoy lol

Yes I dare not attempt a repair as the screen as was still under the manufacturers warranty so it was replaced but it's been refitted upside down so this peg like sliding mechanism is now against the step entrance instead of high level so I now have to,return to the dealer to have it reversed happy days

It looks to be an abseling type set up for spiders?

Yes I agree it's now been replaced with an upside down version hope it will be remedied soon
