Tonight has been my first night at home with power! Last Friday it was just me and the dog - hubby couldn't make it home. Arwen was the scariest thing I have ever heard up in the glen. Guys have been working really hard to get us back on line, so grateful. Dweezil looks much more relaxed tonight!

Surely you cannot call a mutt dweezil...... 😳

Gorgeous photo … my cousin was just connected last night too … she had been cooking on her open fire.

That is the green world, no electricity open fire locally sourced fuel. Crumpet on a fork beans on a coat hanger in its tin. No chemicals used in washing up, no waste recycling the tin.
No Christmas, no relatives, in a word Bliss

Glad to see you’re back with electricity. Luckily (or maybe not luck) you had alternative fuel sources. Some people on here won’t like that but I do.
Once again glad you’re back connected.

And yet after being encouraged to burn carbon neutral dried logs for years it is now proposed that burning wood should be outlawed. Fire is our only effective and ancestral fall back when our so called modern technology fails us!

Absolutely folks - we were only saying tonight that the log burner made life so much more bearable - this is an old farmhouse and without the log burner it would have been totally freezing and miserable. However, we have discovered that some water valve/pump must have given up the ghost last weekend as the water got less and less warm...but at least we had water. Many of our neighbours get their water from boreholes - no power, no pump = no water either. Count your blessings!

Hey Sue, hope you are doing well. Still looking for a better caller than me.."YOU" for Hawick new Year (y) Can you oblige?

Totally agree. Just got power back on this afternoon after 8 days without. We relied on coal, logs, calor and petrol for the generator.
