Wattling Motor scooter carrier

Hi I have jaunt had fitted a wattling motor scooter tow bar .
It uses straps to secure the scooter to the rack but I am worried about damaging the bike panels .
Is any one using the carrier and have any experiences to help

We had a similar set up a few years back and found that putting the little padded sleeves that usually boy racers have on their seatbelts cured this...
