Hi

This morning, the spout of the kitchen tap of our 2021 Globecar Roadscout came away in my hand.

I pushed it back on. However, when I lift the spout up so it is no longer horizontal, water starts to ooze from where the tap meets the sink.

Any ideas?

Also, any recommendations for a more useful tap to replace this standard one?

Tap cartridge may need replacing. Ours went 2 months ago.

If you replace the complete tap you have lots of choice. I found the Reich range were more expensive than the Comet range. It was difficult to unscrew the retaining nut underneath the worktop and I needed to buy this:

Melco Ta24 a/F Box Spanner 1.5/16x1.1/2x7.1/2

from Amazon to loosen it, and get the old tap off.

I replaced the old tap with this:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Comet-Ro...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
It's important when ordering that you know the diameter of the tap fitting - there seem to be 2 sizes.

Do I need To buy a top specifically for a campervan or will a regular kitchen tap work?

If your tap is microswitched, as is usual for Globecars, fitting domestic replacement tap is possible but more complicated, as it means changing to a Shureflo type water pump. If your existing tap is the fold down type, there is an alternative swing away type of Reich or Comet tap that allows you to lower the sink lid for transit.

Oh, and if ordering your replacement, make sure it has the tail connectors to match your existing. There are at least 2 types, in my experience. We have a Campscout and our tap is mounted on the worktop but yours may be mounted in the steel sink and hence your choice of replacement may be limited.

Thanks. I was confused when you mentioned Comet until I followed your link.

It’s a Dometic hsg2445 hob & sink combination. It does have a fold down spout so you can close the lid, although the spout doesn’t swivel, which is annoying.

I’ll look at the Reich and Comet swing away taps online — I’m not sure how the lid would close with those.

Thanks.

Yes, our tap is mounted on the steel sink.
