Hi
We are relative newbies to motorhoming but on our second van. I cannot for the life of me work out how to heat water in my new (to me) van.
It's a Truma heater with wavy lines rotating up with 40 and 60C and gas symbol pointing down 40 and 60C.
Green AND red LED are on together to right hand side. Any words of wisdom really appreciated.
Thanks

If it's like mine (2006) then one dial sets the heating function, the other sets the power source. To add to the fun, the gas flame symbol has two entirely different meanings on the two dials.

The upper dial (heating function) is:
hot water only, 60 deg;
hot water only, 40 deg;
OFF (heating and hot water);
heating only (no hot water);
heating plus hot water 60 deg.

The lower dial (power source) has wavy lines for the electric elements plus a gas flame symbol. It selects:
two elements (no gas)
one element (no gas)
gas only
gas with one element
gas with two elements.

Setting the upper dial to OFF turns off all the heating/hot water, whatever the lower dial is set to. On my system, one element is 900W, two elements is 1800W.

The inner dial sets the temperature, on a nominal scale of 1 to 10. If the measured temperature is several degrees below the set temperature, the system goes into turbo boost mode, until it gets near the set temperature. Then it settles down into normal mode.

Red light is fault either low voltage or no gas if you've recently changed bottle it can take a few attempts running the cooker helps
Make sure you have isolating valve on
Try with the engine running to eliminate low voltage

If your Chausson is anything like ours was the water heater has more than one gas cut off valve. Our second cut off was beside the heater and the plastic tap thing looked okay but when removed the underneath of the tap was work and wasn't turning the gas on. A pair of pliers was utilised and the plastic tap disposed of.

It was the inside / underneath of the red plastic that was worn / torn. Should have been a hollow square to engage with the brass solid square on the actual valve but the plastic had worn and was round and split. You can get things like radiator keys to replace the plastic but we just used a pair of needle pliers from my craft kit.

Mr Autorouter, you really should write the Technical Operating Manual for the Truma System! If the Manual Authors were as good as the Engineers and Designers, it would be a winning combination!

My system is the same.

Agree Autorouter ,that’s about as simple as you can make it…..and correct.

If the red light comes on,turn it off for a couple of minutes and start again,works for me!

Hi there
Sadly I have one dial not two, and so think this works only on gas - argh.
I will top up today and see what happens.
Thanks for your fab words of wisdom. Much appreciated guys.
