We have recently purchased a 10 year old Celtic Rambler Fifth Wheeler, in which we live full time. We have an Alden @mondo Satellite system and an ordinary tv aerial. Whilst based here in England we are more than satisfied watching Freeview. We are planning to travel around Portugal for at least 6 months commencing in September. Is there a system available whereby we can still watch English TV without having to go through the cost of subscribing to Sky? We are not tech savvy so any advice needs to be in plain English! !!

Without a sky HD subscription back in the UK, and the box with you, then you'll need a WiFi / cellular data connection. Then you can access the likes of itv hub / bbc iplayer but will need to use a VPN service to make it "appear" that you are actually in the UK. Sounds scarey and technical but it isn't. IPVanish is a respected and good VPN provider and does monthly or annual plans.

I use a VPN to watch UK TV via the internet, obviously this has it's own problems, currently using Pure VPN which is not free but they frequently have offers.

Firstly obtaining a good internet connection, I use a NOS unlimited PAYG sim €15 for 15 days and it is possible to top up online, online from NOS shops or Worten outlets, this works most of the time but where we are near Tavira the signal seems to detirorate in the evening.

Most of the programmes that we like are on the BBC and we can download them from iplayer to watch when it suits us. ITV programmes can be a bit hit and miss in the evening but it is possible to watch on catchup during the day.

There are some options using a satellite connection to a different satellite and a 'cracked' box but I have never bothered as we do not watch that much TV.
