Just discovered that Waitrose in Swaffham has installed a height barrier (2.6m).

Its OK @MyrtleGuru good news waitrose now deliver:D
but if they stop offering my free coffee & newspaper, then that's it,I am off to Lidl.;)

They installed one when they built the new Banbury store just over a year ago, but I have yet to see it closed. I presume it’s there in case they need to take precautions against a possible influx of ‘travellers’.
It’s not been a problem for us - so far!

At 2.6 meters it's no problem for my PVC it'll go underneath easily

Also, not a problem as Swaffham is 300 miles away - so I don't plan on shopping there

On a more setious note, my moho is my daily drive, so I hope height barriers don't become the norm

Most Waitrose customers park for the fantastic shopping experience so a height barrier will affect very few. Good on Waitrose....;)

Waitrose at Swaffham has a residential travelers site approx 500metres down the road.

Local knowledge! - Gordon

@buttons -pray tell, wtf is a "fantastic shopping experience"?
Waitrose shopping experience of course Lot lover. I have tried them all apart from the two cheepo's and Waitrose is the best of the bunch by far.....(y)

Lidl in Dover, the new one on the bypass has fitted a height barrier that was mentioned recently on her, I cannot go in there to stock up on the way out but Tescos have not fixed their one.. It is because of the you know who's that we cannot name filled the carpark,, and the foreign lorries parked up at night in Lidl after the KCC closed all the laybys to force them into Husk park???????? It is said, for £25 a night .

It's getting to be a bit of a pain. There's a Sainsburys just off the North Circular in London E4, easy to reach from the M11 without driving through small streets, but they installed height barriers due to travellers and the Morrisons half a mile up the road followed suit.

I wrote to Waitrose about the Swaffham height barriers and they reckon they are removing them shortly as the 'local issue' seems to be resolved.

Incidentally I am brand-agnostic -- I will buy from whichever supermarket looks like it will be easy to access in the van and is not far off my route.

Have you seen the camp just along the road from there, may be they have had visitors that they didn’t want.

Ours is listed as 2.65, but does that mean we can fold down the aerials and squeak through? Reminds me too much of previous squeaky-bottom moments with boats, bridges and tidal rivers!

I think that is exactly it. I am told there was some sort of related police raid recently too.
