Decided now to go for a vpn but reading reviews cannot decide which one to go for, it was going to be nordvpn but the reviews are not good, so help please are you satisfied with yours if you have one, thanks.

Got Nord & had no trouble. They have a Firestick app, so that’s makes it very easy for us to use, if using site WiFi etc.

I use VPN Unlimited. Works for me. They usually have a deal for lifetime subscription but like many software guys they might now class 'lifetime' as 3 or 4 years.

I use private internet access (PIA) which is a paid service, used it for a few years and had no problems with it. Easy interface on the app, allows several connections at once BUT does not let you watch the BBC Iplayer. Not a problem for me but may influence your choice.

I use ipvanish, speed is great,, BUT it's servers ip's are regularly blocked by the bbc iplayer. So no use for Geo disguising from the BBC due to them being blocked.
Other wise works super for me as I use it when streaming content on my android box.
Forgot to add, price wise cost was like $79 for 2 years, works out at £2.80 PM

If you are using a UK sourced sim card you don't need a VPN. It is only if you have a local sim card or use site wifi. :)

For those abroad who wish to view BBC Iplayer etc, without a UK sourced SIM, Express VPN works well for us. We used to use TunnelBear but a year or so ago the BBC/ITV found ways to block them.

Very true I forgot about reading that before, good point.

I have Nord and i can get american netflix, I haven't tried it from outside the UK yet.

Read up on your home router, likely you can setup openvpn on it. Then you get free vpn through your home.

We use Hotspot shield, allows 5 devices works for the iPlayer itv hub etc when out the country, costs about $40 a year, been using it for iPlayer etc in Spain and the Far East, vast choice of locations to select from, which usually shows on my avatar flag :)

Embarrassed. What is vpn?

Virtual Private Network, it creates an encrypted link between your device and a remote server which could be in any country, this means if you are in a foreign country and connect to a server in the UK the website you are visiting thinks you are in the UK, this is useful if the website only allows UK traffic for instance BBC I player. As has been said already, if you have a UK sim and are connecting via 4G you won't need one for this purpose, there are however other reasons to have a VPN, mainly security ones so best to do some research and see if it's something that would be useful to you. There are some free ones and also some paid for ones, the paid for ones usually give you more choice of servers in more countries.

In 2012, I used one to watch the Rugby League Challenge cup whilst on a camp-ground in the USA. I think it was about £5/Month back then.

ExpressVPN here.
