Just arrived at Alicante Imperium and on behalf of Funsters wishing to head for warmer climes, I enquired as to space, going forward.
Fro 25th Jan there is very limited space but you will have to book.
I have seen more UKs in the last hour than I have in the last 6 weeks added together but I swear there isn't a German van left in Germany.

If say you wanted your EU allowed days, 90 days allowing for travel. How much per day would you expect to be paying. I know some sites offer long booking discounts. I would prefer a three stop visit.

Agree about the Germans being in Spain. Not only Motorhomes, but lots of cars as well.

We are booked into Alicante Imperium starting on Feb 2 for 54 nights and it’s around 16 euros a night but that’s not including the cost of the electric used.

I'll get back to you when I know for certain, quoting your days ie 60-90 nts. (That's how it usually goes)

could this be due to "working from home? I am assuming the advice in germany is similar to our own
Not unless those efficient germanic tribes insist on them working well into their dotage.

We re at Altea, couldn't get on the camperstop so on cap Blanche which is turning over fairly frequently because its not great but hey ho much better weather than back home.

90% Dutch

Villasol in Beni is about 70% full with a few nice pitches available. Most of of the space is down on the front by the road. The majority of the seasonal Dutch and Belgiums have returned after missing last winter also quite a few more Germans than usual.

That seems reasonable to me. Im thinking 2023. We are both recuperating from operations, and this season is a no go.

Everywhere seems to be doing well without the restricted UK visitors....I suppose extra pressure is being put on Spain due to Morocco being closed and wilding in Portugal being difficult...
The Spanish economic situation is seeing the return of good times....long may it last...👍🇪🇦

I was due at the Imperium last week for three months, but due to house sale had to put it back to the end of February house sale went wrong but I couldn’t get on when I wanted (big pitch) so end of Feb it is Mikey RV pitch 90

The cynic in me could put a case for saying Spain have created a problem with Maroc in order to corner the market in Winter Sun holidays.

I definitely think its the Morocco factor this year, we would be there by now and seen lots of others who have got the quad bike trailer on in case. Still enjoying Spain but a few degrees warmer would be nice. Also greater flexibility in Morocco.

On camping Mar Menor at the minute, 95% full with about 80% Herman's seen very little UK vans.
We left Benidorm after a couple of weeks it was very quiet put it down to being a popular destination for the UK so maybe hit harder, surprisingly seen very little Dutch and French as well.

Interesting idea Derek but I thinks its actually the Moroccans that are not happy

"A diplomatic dispute between Morocco and Spain over Madrid’s decision to host a leader of the Western Saharan independence movement has soured what had been improving relations across the Mediterranean Sea."

I think Morocco are not the contented party in the current dispute....and equally Spain were not happy with Morocco for failing to stem the flow of migrant's entering Spanish Territory in North Africa...Similar situation with France and the UK..

It does make me wonder how the Moroccan government expects all the people who live of tourism to survive a second season with no income?

Here are the prices at Imperium.
They are all in Euros.
They have three sizes of pitches.
To give an example, we are on the smallest (Allon) We have a 7.6 A class and with 30" between the n/s hedge and the van, there is 10 1/2 ft on the offside remaining. The van has a good yard of space at the back (before the road) and a yard at the front ie it's a 10mt pitch.
On the pitch is fresh water and grey disposal.
Prices, Small pitch 4-30nts. 19.20
31-90nts. 15.60
Medium pitch 4-30nts 20.80
31-90nts 16.90
Large pitch 4-30nts 22.40
31-90nts 18.20

Forgot to mention, in addition to the above, 16 amp. Electricity is extra at 37cents a Kw.

37 cents per kWh that will pump the daily rate up...my domestic rate is more or less 20 cent Peak and 9 cent off peak per kWh..
The use of Butane remains a cheaper option here in Spain for heating and perhaps fridge useage....if available...🤔🇪🇦👍

Appreciate your comments.
It is mitigated by the fact that we are close, (but not THAT) close to very good 'facilities'
Showers and washing up are housed indoors in a heated building so we don't have to use the hot water onboard. That is provided by the Truma when the heating is on.

WE've just booked a week at Raco to sort the 'van out before heading South. However, I just rec eived this email having tried to book a week at Playa Mazarron. I presume that they will be less busy the week after Easter?????

  • You

Good afternoon,
at the moment we can not book a place for you now because the Campsite is complet.
Please, if you still interested, get in touch with us again the day before you arrive.
Kind Regards,
Camping Playa de Mazarrón.

Hi Everyone, Ive been reading a lot of these messages about you all in Spain. I have had my campervan since 2016 and have only driven twice to France just after my husband died. The first time was with a group of woman and the next was with a couple that I met at one of the shows who I have become great friends. It’s been my dream to drive to Spain just me and my two little yorkies but it seems quite daunting on my own. I feel that if I could perhaps follow someone it may give me confidence after a couple of times to go alone. So if there’s any out there who would be kind enough to let me tag along or perhaps another single person with their own van who has done it before please let me know I would appreciate it. I was thinking about September time.

Hi Alfieplustwo, we're first timers heading to Spain in two weeks. Was going to say that you're quite welcome to follow us, then re-read your post & saw you were looking at September :oops2:
Quite welcome to tag along if you want to head down sooner, though ::bigsmile:
