I'm a newbie
Hi
We have always had our dog checked by a vet for return to the UK in France, this year thinking of doing it in Germany, has anyone experienced any issues with this?

Once only, but no problems whatsoever. Vet fully conversant with requirements.

Malcolm

We have taken our dog to a German vets twice in the last 10 months. First time we had our own tapeworm pill - no charge from vet. Second time we didn't - they only charged the cost of the pill. Germany is very, very dog friendly.

A lot cheaper , usually about 24 euros, France usually 40.

Thanks - when did you use the Vet and how much were you charged ?
First time October 2018 - not charged as we had our own pill.
Second time June 2019 - only charged for pill - think it was 5 euros.
Easy parking for large motorhomes right outside vets.

Some are relatively cheap, others can be expensive.

My Google Map may help you find a Vet.

Let me know details of the Vet you use to help other Dog Owners.

Hi Keith, we used this vet last Saturday afternoon
Veterinary Clinic Esplanade

They charged 57euros for 2 dogs, gave them the worker and a quick health check, very friendly and efficient

we used vet near Bautzen last month. We were the first passport hed done. We arrived with an issue re ticks as well. The drug he gave for worms and ticks was, I feel sure after reading up, very appropriate for the two issues. It was however not accepted by Eurotunnel abiding by DEFRA rules which i also read havent been updated in the 12 years. Luckily i read Eurotunnel bumf !!
so we needed to see another in Belgium who was quite amused and who thought we were a bit OTT - he too obviously hadnt read DEFRA rules!! he signed the passport anyway with no further input

both vets were very caring and not expensive - Belgium vet didnt charge us

But if youre deep in Germany ( Bautzens near the Chech border) just read which drugs are needed specifically. German and Belgium vets may use newer drugs!!!!

That’s why we take our own tablet.

The vets all know it a load of tosh, and some feel sorry for us having to bother with it.

Do you have the addresses of the Vets you used and any prices they charged ?

It doesn't matter what they are given as long as what is written on the passport is what they want to see.

Wish we had got the address off of you when we met in Reil got hit with 48 euros in Epperney on the way back, the amount we would have saved with the detour would have easily covered the diesel

We used a vet in Calais today...offered an injection for the one dog who has to have it down the throat but I declined...No prob with 2nd dog ... 40 euros for both

Opps the new aire we also parked outside on the road ..
But one german lady sailing tomorrow dog's rabies jab expired 2018 vet was adamant you no sail for 3wks
The lady mentioned also had a long list of vets hopefully they all so no

The Vet is right - the dog cannot travel to the UK until 21 days (3 weeks) after the Rabies treatment has been done and recorded in the Pet Passport and will not get passed the Pet Passport Office until that time has elapsed.
That is why we are Rabies free in this country.

Yes quite agree the vet stood her ground ..a loud NO ..this was all in the waiting room
