Very stiff fresh water tank drain tap

Hi Folks

as the title says, the drain tap on the top of the water tank has become very stiff and creaks when I open or close it. Is there anything I can do to unfree it. Perhaps spray with WD40.??
Anyone else had a similar problem, what did you do.
I’ve just been out to empty the tank as it looks like the van is going to get used for a while and I’m finding it really hard to move the tap.

A silicon grease spray might help. Ideally sprayed inside the tap as well.

do not use WD40.. It will swell the plastic and also attracts dirt.

Silicon spray, big can from screwfix for about £4 is better.
A small tin of silicon grease i also find handy, from plumbers merchants or ebay etc..

Thats my recommendation.

A good clean and silicon spray should help. Both our waste and fresh got like this, I asked the dealer to have a look and they replaced them both under our used warranty.

I found some Vaseline spray and used that. It’s a bit easier now
its hard to find shops open now And they didnt have silicon spray. Hope the Vaseline is harmless

Vaseline is actually a registered food additive so you should be safe (glace cherries).

Here we go.?
I am assuming it's the fresh water drain. My Burstner has the same, the tank is internal and mounted under the seat. Remove cushions and there it is. A screw wheel on the top of the tank connect to a bar going straight to the bottom of the tank and screws up and down to work the valve.
So, a fresh water drain tap on top of a tank.
I only learned that at first drain down on new van. Always been used to Autotrail and an external tap. ?
