What type of security door (back and sliding) locks do members recommend, without breaking the bank but yet of good quality?
Thanks in advance.

Don't think any external sliding or rotating security device would survive an attack by a determined thief with a crowbar.

It might discourage a thief....and they might move on to an easier target.

What do you leave in the van that is so valuable?
The more locks and security you fit might have the rogues wondering what have you got in there.
They could do a lot more damage smashing off the locks

Decent locks give you enough piece of mind to be able to sleep at night, we all know that if someone wants to get in they will do what ever they need to do to get in no matter what you have fitted, but, they will probably be deterred and go onto another.

My van came with descent locks as standard but I still don't leave any valuable's in it.
I think more locks attracts more attention and potentially the cause of more damage to the van.

The OP could fabricate something like this out of aluminium sheet. It jams the locking mechanism of the hab door from the inside. Obviously, you'd have to exit via the cab door which hopefully would have a deadlock operated from the outside.

I use milenco external slding locks on the rear doors & the sliding side door.
On the rear doors internally I use shoot bolts top & bottom . the front cab doors I have 12mm stainless steel rods slide in to the door frame through the B post from the rear.

Don’t want to appear rude but thats not really true, there isn’t any evidence to back that up, same as Burglars don’t go around looking for houses with Alarms fitted and break into them, because there is a box on the wall, most are scrotes who are opportunistic and don’t want the hassle of an alarm going off, so they go elsewhere.

Speak to any crime prevention officer at your local Police HQ. They will say the same.

Or speak to Eddievanbitz, their alarm systems have lots of LEDs fitted to deter van thieves.

Met an English guy on an adjacent pitch in Spain. He had an array of LED's front & rear, operated by a simple 12v switch from within the van. No alarm system whatsoever, haha !!!

A simple and cheap deterrent.....providing you remember to turn them on when leaving the van :ROFLMAO:

PS. You could even automate the process by a relay triggered by the D+ signal whenever the engine stopped and an overriding switch to extinguish when not required.

That's why I leave nothing of value in the van and I would never spend money on any super expensive alarm system.
My Cat1 system cost £299 and it also including a flashing LED light.
There is a big different between break-ins and stealing the whole van. I make sure that will never happen even if they do break in.
