Has anyone successfully managed to mount an emovis/bip and go tag on the outside of their van.
Mine worked flawlessly on my campervan but works about 10% of the time on my motorhome (burstner lyseo harmony td590).
Obviously it would need to be waterproof and removable otherwise I'll be getting somebody elses toll fees until I cancel it.
Shrinkwrap maybe.
To save time, yes, I had it mounted on the thatched panel behind the rearview mirror and just about everywhere else on the windscreen, it is also in date for the battery.
Cab overhang in the Burstner is also minimal.
More often than not it just doesn't work.

I have a small garmin dashcam mounted near the mirror area and thought perhaps the power cable might be causing interference.
I have tried disconnecting it but obviously its still a live feed.
Any ideas?

We've always put our tag (a Fulli one) towards the bottom of the windscreen, or in one of the little sections in the Ducato cab dashboard facing the window, and it's worked fine. I work on the principle of putting the tag at a similar height to what it would be in a car.

Is your windscreen reflective?
I've had it all over the dashboard and windscreen to no (or very little) avail.

I have waved the tag to get it to work.
Once police were at the booth and told me to drive up to and almost touching the barrier before it worked

I have heard that driving right up to the barrier works.
I could try that but most people with the tag just slow down at the barriers.
I too, have had the wife stick her hand out the window at car roof height as we approach the barriers, still wont work most of the time.
If it never worked I would know just to bin it, but the fact that it sometimes works.leads me to believe that there is some kind of workaround.

No idea I'm afraid, but it's worked in a Bailey, a Rapido and now a Carthago. The one time it didn't work I'd put it upside down in the tray (but of you're using the mounting bracket that shouldn't be an issue).

Btw, I sent my original back and got a new one so I doubt it is a faulty tag.
Every year I say "we'll try it here and see if it works"
But it rarely does.
Crossed my mind that the sat fi dome may juuuuust put us over 3mtrs too.

If you have the hatched area behind the rear mirror it's probably reflective.

The Rapido and Carthago are A-classes so probably unlikely. Can't remember on the Bailey.

Just slowing down is not sufficient in our experience. Just noticed this....in France you need to come to a stop (even if only momentarily), unless you're using one of the 30kph lanes.

I usually come to a stop for about 3mins and wave my hand around with the emovis tag like a chicken trying to take.off.
I'm sure this is purely for the amusement of the French.

Could well be this...I recall some recently saying theirs only worked 70% of the time because they were over 3m. What class does it say on the display when it doesn't work?

Havn't looked at the display to be honest, I usually press the button to talk to someone and it opens as I'm doing it.

Should be class two IIRC.

I had mine in the black area behind mirror and found it dubious. Moved it to the bottom of dash, just in recess and work 99.9% since.
If you want more outside put in a freezer bag, and attach to wiper arm, or under bonnet to test.

Yeah, the small black grill below the windscreen and above the bonnet is my current thinking, perhaps in a waterproof mobile phone bag or similar.
