Hello.

I am looking at upgrading the in built carthago pull up tv. This unit doesn't have any usb ports. I would like to run a fire stick off the TV.

Any recommended units? I've got to get the new TV within the existing unit so I've got a depth of 70mm.

Also this TV seems to run off an old power DC power plug. It would be great for the new TV to run off this but I'm not sure of that is possible which then questions how I'd power the new 12v TV?!

I've attached a couple of pictures

Cheers

Above the fridge!

Thanks again guys. I just need to figure out why the van keeps thinking the battery is empty and killing all the electrics and then I'm away!

Tenants moving into our house on Friday, me and the wife, the cat and the dog are then living in the van, electric or no electric! Nothing like a rush

Well done on the findings. I would defiantly focus on the electrics over the Tv with that time frame! :giggle:

Surely it's the most important part of the electrics? 🤣

They were all fine until last night 🤕
Lol, it depends on the ambient heat and time of year ... middle of winter = needing light and heat and candles are so very 18th century 😎 Post up your kit list and pics and let us have a look at the situation.

So here's the latest update.

The alde wet heating won't come on because of low battery... But the lithium is showing as 99%. See attached pictures.

System died again shortly after getting into the van.

I think either the new lithium battery is Fiddlesticksed, or the display is reading false.

I might just take the hit and take my van somewhere else as I have very little trust in this installer. Has anybody got any recommendations?

You could give RogerIvy or nigelivy at Offgrid power solutions a call👍

Have you had issues with the metal housing for the TV? Mine hasn't got the power to stay up (had to be careful how I typed this) so I'm using a bungie to keep it up. After a while it seems to hold but, initially it will just fall down again.
It's on gas struts isn't it?

Replace them?

I’m not an expert but a battery voltage of 10.79V does not seem compatible with a state of charge of 100%. If I saw 10.79V I would expect my battery to be effectively flat.

So here's the latest update.

Based on the voltage, the battery is flat and probably close to the low voltage disconnect. You should charge it ASAP. The Shunt is clearly not aligned to the battery, so may not be set up correctly.

We have a video that runs through the settings of the SmartShunt for lithium batteries, which might be helpful to get the battery & Shunt more aligned:

Thanks ever so much for this.

I've let my install guy know. He going to have a look at it on Thursday evening.

I've sent him this link

So latest update.

First night in the van last night and at 4am I lost all power and the voltage was showing as around 10v on the battery. The lithium/victron screen was showing 90% changed. However the old monitor for the lead acid battery was showing low voltage and it's turned the gas etc off and all electrics.

I did have the inverter on and I was pulling around 100w AC for around 3 hours during the night. That along with the alde wet heating on gas supply, nothing else pulling power.

I took the van back to my installer the other day and he advised that the 608ah fogstars battery cannot handle fast depletion which I know isn't good for batteries, however last night I wasn't pulling anything near to what should cause the battery any issues.

I've now set the smart shut to exactly the settings on the video from off grid power. Tbh, the only difference I had was the Peukurt exponent which was set to a LA setting of 1.25 rather than the 1.05. I'm not sure how much of a difference this will make.

I've attached a screen shot of the victron app which shows I'm currently on sure power, at a 100% capacity and I cannot get it to go over 13.45v on the battery. I'm going to leave it plugged in tonight to see if this changes.

My setup is as the attached photo, along with a brand new fogstar 608ah battery. (I asked for 2 separate batteries but this is what I got....)

Any help would be great, I really appreciate it.

Thanks, Adam

Fogstars are quite capable at delivering high amps so your fitter is confused. Post the battery model number up and you can check the specs.
What battery charger is on the van and why did you need the inverter on out of interest? 10.8v is when the BMS will shut off the power... or there abouts.

I'll get the battery specs on here tomorrow, thanks for the help.

I'm now in the van without sure power. The only item I have switched on is the inverter and the dometic fridge via the 230w (ran out of gas tonight) and the attached photo shows DC power draw. I'm totally lost with it all, I think the fogstar is faulty.

One thing I did note last night was the max fan I had installed started bleeping when the battery ran out. The guys wired it straight from the battery, so without using the kill switch in the garage I can't turn it off. I'm going to put my own switch in this week for that.

I've had the sure power on continually today from 3pm till 22:30 and the battery didn't go above 13.58v and it was still pulling 1400w when shown as full.

I Can't think anything other than a faulty battery now.

I think you need to go back to your installer to clear this up. If you have a multiplus (the display indicates you may have) that is the charger and 12v for the van when on shore power / EHU. This is more than capable of providing all your 12v needs and still charge the battery.
The shunt needs to be synced to the battery soc when you know the battery is 100 charged. The shunt is showing 13.3V at the battery... this is not flat.
Fill the gas up and talk to the installer...
For us to help further we really need a list of what has been fitted or frankly we are guessing most of it.
Maxfan should have had at least a fuse fitted in line so it can be isolated BTW...
