Trouble with UK Self-Assessment Return Address

I successfully paid my 31st July Self-Assessment contribution to you UK Residents' services.

I the accumulated all information to fill-in my 2022-2023 Self-Assessment return, well in advance of the deadline [What a good boy!]

They ask it to be returned in the envelope provided.

Pause at that point as last year I remember that despite adding UK to the address which is only a postcode it was 4 months before they found it. So I spent 40 minutes on the phone trying to find the correct address.

The Self-Assessment Helpline announces that it is closed until 4th September!!!!

Why should I pay all my tax in UK and get such crap service????

I still do not know where to accurately send my tax return.

Can you do it online? I’ve done my husbands tax return the last few years online, & after registering for a gateway account, it was fairly easy. Even better now HMRC has an app that takes you straight to the correct place!

You make it sound so easy, even setting up a gateway account I would rather inject my eye balls with lemon juice usint a rusty hypodermic needle, and as for the helpline Iwas charged nearly 20 quid one year would not let me pay over the phone pathetic

I phoned HMRC yesterday, expecting to be on hold for hours. My call was answered within about 30 seconds, and they were able to sort all of my problems. I was very impressed.
