How do people manage to go on long holidays ie 90 days to Europe with pre existing medical conditions, in my case prostate cancer ?? Some insurance companies say after 65 the maximum length they will do is 45 days !!! This seems a ridiculously low age for this type of restriction !! I am stable, only take some drugs every day but no one seems to want to insure me for 90 days in Europe !!! Help.....

My SO contacted McMillan and a couple of other charities which can help with travel insurance.
She wasn't seeking to be away for more than 3 weeks though, I would suggest they may be a starting point.

As it happens Macmillan sent some travel advice in an email yesterday ...

Here's the insurance link.

Staysure and Allclear are two that I think funsters have used. As you can imagine there are an awful lot of fellow sufferers. Obviously make sure you’ve got the GHIC card as well as that would help in an emergency.

There used to be some sort of insurance that you could take out at the same time as a tunnel crossing that was quite broad but I have to confess I don’t know the details.

We used the Eurtunnel insurance when John’s prostate cancer newly diagnosed and being treated (just full removal). You have to confirm that, if asked, a doctor would state that you are fit to travel. You have to book the insurance at the same time as the tunnel booking now (used to be able to do it separately). There are length of stay limits too.
Now we use Staysure.

We've been on an 11 month trip with Staysure with various existing conditions including 2 x cancers

About 7 or 8 years ago my partner had a kidney removed along with a fairly major bowel operation. For subsequent long holidays our insurer said they would cover us but for anything not related to those health conditions. In other words if he was hit by a car or was to have a fall or something similar he would be covered for that. I think the equivalent of car insurance would be for fire and theft rather than comprehensive.
