Tow car insurance.

Hello everyone. Tried to get insurance for my new Tow car and didnt realise what a mine field it is. Some insurers wont insure as youve modified car, others said ring back with price but dont or my motorhome insurer told me a quote i nearly fell off my stool. Why so hard to be a legal owner driver?????

About 2009. I rang Comfort Insurance to check about this. If i remember, YES they would Insure it, but while being towed it would only be Third Party...PLEASE CHECK ON THIS as my memory is not what it once was. I spoke to a very helpful lady over the phone in 2009 and went on to Having my Insurance with them. Comfort.
We did not go down the " Toad " route,as the Renault Master and Fiat Ducato can be threaded through most narrow gaps........ and if not......I take a RUN at them.
Try Comfort. I am not a customer now sadly,but would have been still,had they been able to Insure the Ducato PVC. in Portugal .

yes it is third party its only like a tow bar fitted never had a problem

When we used a toad we insured it with Comfort as was the motorhome. I simply thought any accident could end up with two companies arguing about who should pay for what. We specified that it would be towed.

Mine is with Direct Line, No extra for the declared modification but getting them to understand it has a front tow bar fitted was an effort. The certificate says no modifications but I have checked and it is noted against the policy that it does have.
My understanding is whilst being towed it is covered by the Moho insurance anyway.

When we wanted to tow, all the insurance companies said that when being towed the car would be third party only, except NFU (at the Louth office), who said if we insured both the motorhome and car with them it would be comprehensive.
Get it in writing so there are no arguments.

Ive insured both my motorhome and tow car with Adrian Flux. Both fully comp and even states A Frame attachment been installed so all present and correct paid £214.00 for full policy on tow car.

Yes and 3rd party only and ,same as a trailer nothing in ot of on it unless specifically stated.
