Hi
I have been looking for a Permanent live at the back of my van to connect up my new rear view camera. Eventually decided the best place would be the 13 pin towbar.
After much looking, crawling on my back, getting dirty, I have found the tow bar live wires are not connected to anything, all the lighting wires are connected and the tow bar lights work, but there is no live feeds.
Looking further back into the AutoTrail wiring I also find the wiring on the back of the fuse box which provides the supply to the tow bar via fuses is also missing so I now have the job of running new wires from the cab right back to the tow bar loom.

would you have expected AutoTrail to have fitted these power wires to a junction box in the same way the lights are as part of the standard build. If not why include the fuses for them?

Take a feed from rear storage cupboard if there is lights in there

On my chieftain there was a junction box under the van to run the towing harness from a square box around 4 inches square

And don't forget to put ignition on when checking for live feed

Do you have the second caravan socket fitted. I don't think the trailer lights have a live feed

Hi, no lights in any cupboard at the back unfortunately. Only supply is in the toilet but of course that turns off when engine is running.

There isn’t any wires from the back of the fuse box so even if the junction box existied it seems the live wires would not be there. I have seen a junction block for the lighting thought but no box as such. I’ll check again.

Hi it is a 13 pin socket not 7 so should have the live wires. I have found the end of the wires from the towbar socket loom and they are just flapping in the breeze.

Ah, maybe only used the trailer wire set of wires.??

Sounds like it's only wired as a 12N 7 pin. Probably as they expect you wouldn't be towing a unit that requires a permanent live.
