Tow bar prices ????

Talking to some Uk based towbar manufactures and installers for a 2007 Bessacar with ALKO chassis im being quoted silly prices , £1600 to £2100 seems excessive to me ????????

I have fitted towbars to many vehicles over the years including panel vans , land rovers , Hilux and some ex military trucks , but even taking out installation they companies , these prices seem ludicrous to me

I purchased a kit from witter for my swift bolero with the alko chassis it was a bolt on job took less than one hour I was fortunate that my swift had led rear lights and a plug and play wiring harness was available from Sargent that connected into the led rear light module
total cost was less the £600 with the removable tow ball
if you are a member of the caravan club you can get a discount from witter I believe

Not sure if they do Alko chassis ones, but worth asking. Very reasonable price.

Getting ours fitted next week… burstner harmony 590…. Quoted £1780 over the phone but after he’d seen it don’t need the chassis extension so £1020!! Call that a result 😃

Don’t know your location but they only do Towbars, good value and know everything.

OK so found a reasonable place in Preston Lancashire that can do the whole job supply fit etc for less Than £700 http://motorhometowbarslancashire.co.uk

however went to test drive the Bessacar E650 its a very nice van but sadly again NO AIRCON and no Cruise control co I have been looking again , rejected a few others

Now I have upped my game and am now looking at a 2011 Burstner 720 Nexxo Fiat Base its mint and has Towbar already , cruise aircon everything I want , ,, yes its £8000 more but its, younger less miles only 31k , , Its German build quality a bit bigger at 7.2m , The German build quality really does show when you look close at the fittings , furniture etc , has new MOT , Service , and Habituation checks

no need to go looking for a towbar install as its got one , only needs a Solar Panel install and maybe a MIFI booster .

I will test drive it tommorow ,, they are asking £41,000 with 6 months warranty do you think I should offer £39k????


I will also be fitting a Sharp Aqeos 32'' flatscreen TV which I have modified for 12v use as the piddly little ones fitted as standard dont do it for me

Often i have heard people bargain with extras also how old are the tyres they are date stamped
