More than toes wet now!
Got one of their torque wrenches a few years ago. Good buy.
Was in this morning to pick up some silicon oil @£1.99 \ 400ml spray.

If its any help to others.

Lidl torque range is 80 -210 @ £20
Aldi have a similar on line with 60-210 range and £3 cheaper and good reviews @ £17.
Screwfix Magnusson range is 28 -210 and £25 but perhaps more useful?

Of course these cheap torque wrenches will come with a calibration certificate and stay in calibration for many years. Most serious engineering works have a calibrated tester bolted to the wall that you check your torque wrench against every time you use it. Some even grind the numbers off the side of the wrench so you have to use the calibrated tester. An uncalibrated torque wrench is just like a conventional ratchet handle but goes click to give you confidence.

They've also got those plug top type circuit testers for those that worry about reverse polarity and may also want to check for earth faults ?

The multimeter is autoranging, very useful if you are measuring resistances and they are all jumbled up in a tin!

Nobody's fault, but I read these recommendations for Lidl etc. products and get excited, as for this one, but then find they are not available in our Polish Lidl - so I end up bringing back another case of wine to compensate

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
I have been stripping down and rebuilding engines for over 50yrs and have to say when it comes down to my workshop tools I don't look for a cheap deal on a cheap bit of kit, fair enough if you only use it twice a year but mine are used everyday and I have total confidence in them.
I was taught look after your tools and they will look after you.

Reminds me of the Ironmongery guy Spiro in my home port on Poros, Greece. When we went to buy a tool he would say do you want the Greek one at €5, the Chinese one at €7 or the German one at €10? He knew the difference in quality and really was making a joke about it the Greek quality.

If it was likely to be a one-off job I would buy the Chinese, but to keep I would buy the German, or British.

Anyone know the price of a Draper torque wrench now?

Geoff
