To respray or not respray

Think decals are expensive to buy so probably would opt to take advantage of that offer. Some were missing when we bought the mh, doesn’t bother me either but have heard it can affect the value.

Paintwork all has to be sanded down first to make a key, hence the cost I suppose.
We might be talking at cross purposes (I might have gotten the wrong idea), the decals on our cab are just the Fiat ones, Swift were cheap and didn’t put anything extra on our cab, though Maquis did with a nice [Maquis] sticker over a hole in the bonnet I found today!

At least I know that a simple respray of the bonnet on a Ducato only costs £300, the rest will be on the fiddly bits around the windscreen and a few other places it’s gone.

£300 sounds very cheap compared with ours. Need to make sure it is prepared properly though, otherwise the paint will peel off easily again. We might have overpaid of course, but we had used the chap for other car dent repairs and found him reasonable pricewise. I did check with our motor mechanic and he thought it sounded about right.

Hi, we have a Swift Sundance on a Fiat Ducato that has the notorious paint work issue in various locations on the cab .

Just had a quote for just under £4000 for a complete respray of the cab. Our dilemma is that we had been considering selling the van and obviously this is a serious wad of cash relative to value (57 plate, selling for £24000 - £31000 private). However, if we try selling it without getting resprayed that’s going to impact what we might get for it.

Any sage thoughts and insights greatly received.
I got ours done a year so so ago
They did the cab, front bumper, new decals on the doors that matched the old ones and a dent sorted at the back for £2200 so your quote sounds expensive
It was a good job too

Agreed, have since had a much better quote of £700-£800 for the work we need.

Kill two birds with one stone… go on a trip over to Morocco for the winter and they’ll be someone there that’ll respray the whole van for around 3-£400 and do a pretty fair job too…😎

I have just had a quote for a bonnet re spray with complete strip back and it was £300.
So seems to be a fair price

It’s now October and as promised a quick update :)

Very happy with the results, complete bonnet respray, respray around the cab window, cab side panels and other touch-ups as necessary. Respray work was carried out by Paul‘s Auto Clinic at Rushden, Northamptonshire, 01933 316070, though they’re busy now until Christmas.

We have an Adria Coral 680SL and had the cab resprayed as paintwork had gone to base in places on the bonnet, windows and door jambs, it cost us £1,000 at a local place last year.
He had to remove some decals which we have not replaced, don’t know if this will affect the resale place.
Hope this gives you an idea.
.Please could you let me know who did your respray

i had similar on the bonnet, but decided in the end to treat all the bad areas myself then cover With a vynl bonnet bra. Looked really good I thought. Got it from a German firm on eBay, £60 if I remember correctly.

Any photos of before?
