No longer a non-funster! Thanks for the intro, Backlanes! And bon voyage. The date for our first overseas motorhome adventure has finally arrived. Having got the Rufty in mid-2022 we have learned the ropes from scratch with a multitude of UK outings over about 90 nights, and now we’re ready to go further afield.
We travelled from North Wales to Newhaven today (crossing choice prompted by Lenny HB thank you) and after reading the many tips so wonderfully provided by this group, decided to park overnight in the ferry queue ready for the 07:00 hr departure tomorrow. We needn’t have worried as we were far from the only ones doing this.

We have just had a quality burger and chicken strips at The Hot Spot Burger and Grill, just beyond the flyover, on a recommendation on here. Good shout. And a non-Funster benefitted as he wandered up to us for a chat just as we were heading that way so we took him with. And so word spreads…
Our ‘plan’ is to head steadily to Spain then follow the coast around to Portugal then cross-country back to France and coastwise back up to Dieppe over six weeks. We have a few places marked to see but anything we don’t see this time we can see next time, same if we don’t get as far as Portugal.
Following a hot tip yesterday from scousebird, thanks Helen, we’ll be taking a look around Dieppe on arrival, so there’s the first day’s plan changed already.
Continental adventures here we come!
Ha we cross messaged. Have a good trip. If coming back via Dieppe don't miss the huge Saturday morning marketNo longer a non-funster! Thanks for the intro, Backlanes! And bon voyage.

Hi Julian! Welcome to the Fun! You’ll find lots of great folk on here with good advice and info.No longer a non-funster! Thanks for the intro, Backlanes! And bon voyage.
We're due to go from Newhaven in August on the way to Ile de Re. The number of motorhomes is probably due to being considerably cheaper than Dover and particularly the Tunnel.Knocked up at 5am by the port staff to move forward for processing, low stress, friendly staff here. By gum there’s a lot of motorhomes here!

E. Leclerc's own Reglo sims work well.I was looking at orange.fr holiday pass, gets a good write up; even asked a jeun’homme in Leclerc if they sold them. Sadly not it seems.
Ha! I think Alençon might just about wing it. But I am willing to allow that the hidden depths of Basingstoke may well be hidden to me.Alençon - twinned with Basingstoke no less. Which will you choose?
If you think France likes a day off wait till you get to SpainYou’ve got to love France: Sunday closed, Monday closing day, Wednesday 1st May Labour Day public holiday, good job we stocked up on Tuesday…
Hmm but the food and drink. Yum!
