Goodness me, I didn't realise they had a rotational bias!! If you turn them the wrong way, you're screwed! That is really good information, thanks for posting!
Might be a gas thread tick.
😉😉😉😉😉

Don't panic. Remove any ticks you find and monitor your skin. If you get a large, normally bullseye, rash (not just a bit of red around the area) then see your doctor and ask for a test.

How do I know? Martin (jumar) had Lyme Disease in 1996, with associated encephalitis, from a tick he picked up in the New Forest.

It was very rare in those days, much more prevalent nowadays.

Why? It is noted the French are scared to death of them,Scotland is overrun with them and they appear everywhere when just a few years back they never got a mention.

l am at a loss to their growth.

Currently TBE doesn’t seem to be an issue in Scotland whilst Lyme disease can be. There are vaccinations against TBE which may be worth investigating - a course of 3 for lifelong (I think) coverage.

Sorry its a course of 3 for between 3 and 5 years (5 yearly booster until age 60 then every 3 years) and there is a UK national shortage currently

Martin picked up his infected tick in the New Forest in 1996. In 1997 a friend picked up an infected tick in Scotland. When he was diagnosed with similar symptoms that Martin had suffered for over a year, Martin asked for a test. He was called into Sheffield Hallam Hospital infection diseases department by one of the specialists there personally.

It wasn't known about, but I suspect it was more prevalent than divulged.

Even now, it's seems to be something brushed under the carpet.

They are not pleasant. Picked mine up cycling through a forest in Germany. Doctor gave me antibiotics and some cream or the other to rub in. Shorts pulled up for photo, very close to where you don't want to find a tick!

Is that right too tightly, left to Lucy? Or vice versa?
