Brand new van with this model. Both oven or grill light ok and stay working after knob released but only work for short times. ie grill 3-5 mins, oven 15-20 mins. Supplying dealer thought it was flame failure devices sensor position but doing it again on 2nd time out. Ruining our europe winter tour. Any ideas?

Two different FFDs is too much of a coincidence. I'd check the gas regulator - if its pressure is low it'll affect different FFDs at different times. During the period when the appliances appear to work OK can you turn them to a low flame position without them going out?

Possible loose connection from thermocouples to gas valve, possible faulty gas valve, possible low flame set too low. Needs checking by gas engineer.

We had a similar problem on a brand new van 5 years ago, it was intermittent and gradually got worse. I wish I could remember what it was but a nice man from Thetford came to the house and said that if we’d left it then it would have got progressively worse as we drove the van and the part loosened. It took him 2 minutes to tighten the loose bit . He might have used words like thermocouple but he didn't dismantle anything and said he knew immediately as he’d been called out to a similar thing about a year before otherwise he might have had to investigate more.
if its a new van Thetford has a network of dealers abroad. There is a list in your manual.

The FFD on oven/grill is common, it has 2 thermocouples which both connect to the sme FFD ,if both oven and grill are faulty, the first place to look is the connection to the FFD which if loose may work for a bit and then cut out.

Thermocouples work by generating electricity due to the heat difference between the tip and base, when cold the difference is greater than when it has all heated up, that is why sometimes they will work for a short time.

FAULT CURED. This model is fitted with a cabinet/enclosure cooling/circulation fan. The engineers have reported that the fan was wired incorrectly so did not operate when the cabinet temperature switch called for cooling. after that the over temperature gas cut-off valve operated by shutting down the oven. The different times before shut-off was purely due to temperature difference between ‘grill with door open‘ and ‘oven with door closed’. As it was faulty from new, either Thetford or Knaus had wired It wrongly, who will accept blame Is yet to be seen!!!
