Buzz, my 10-year old Cocker Spaniel was starting to struggle with walking and getting onto the sofa, both at home and in the van.

I researched YuMove tablets but, after the initial ‘special offers’, the cost would be about £30 a month. Whilst he is worth every penny, it’s a lot of money!

Discussing it with a fellow dog walker up the park a couple of weeks ago, she suggested the Tesco own-brand Glucosamine/Chondroitin tablets. These work out at £3 a month!

After two weeks on these, Buzz is back to his old bouncy, slightly annoying self! He even leapt onto the sofa over the top of the arm yesterday 😂

I would certainly recommend trying them if you have an older dog - maybe I should start taking them myself. 🤪

You may have been joking Janine but I do take a glucosamine and chondrotine supplement. I mentioned it on here in another thread and a couple of others (Lenny HB and others) are now taking them. My mobility is greatly improved as a result. No more painful knee👍
Which ones please as I doubt it’s the doggie ones or you’ll be biting the postie, chasing buses and licking parts that aren’t meant to be licked 😅

Thanks for the heads up, we give YouMove to our cat for much the same reason. We separate the capsule and sprinkle on his soup, can these be separated too, or taken whole.

I’m awonondering if they do them for the cats as well, but only if I can separate the capsules 🐈‍⬛

You can always crush a tablet, use two spoons of crush between paper.

They are quite large tablets - about 12mm in diameter but should crush easily as Shrimp said.

Thanks for the info, had two Springer's that got the same way but was told by my vet about magnetic collar so tried one and exactly the same as you could see the difference in a couple of weeks. If I left the collar off for a few days you could see the difference in the dog start limping again. Got them of Amazon for about £20 might also be worth a try.

If they make you that flexible........

Our elderly Old English Sheepdog has been on glucosamine/chondroitin for about 2 years, his mobility started to worsen slightly so 6 months ago our vet recommended Metacam, you need a prescription for this product but very reasonable if purchased online. It's worked wonders for his ageing joints,

Metacam is good for pain relief, however long term use of it can damage their kidneys and liver. It's best to find the lowest possible dose that still provides enough pain relief.

Spice at 10 years is very flexible. He has Doggie Dailies hip and joint. We tried him and the late Meg on Youmove but they wouldn't take them. The doggie dailies stink but the dogs love them. Cheaper than youmove too.

When our last dogs were elderly and arthritic, I did similar, I googled the ingredients of Yumove and then ordered the component ingredients from Amazon, they had glucosamine as above, and then I think it was a hair and nail tablet had the other ingredients in!
