Hi All,

Found a 669 I might be interested in, 2007, around 20k on the clock. Anyone have a steer on what it would be worth? They don't seem to come up much.

Many thanks,
S.

My god prices are high. Paid £61 K for a new 2009 669, sold it in 2016 for £35000 with 43000 on the clock to a MH dealer direct, they then fronted it for £42K in September 2016.

When we sold it damp was found around the rear off side window and a bit at the back rear floor. The dealer was not too bothered about that and still took it on the price offered over the phone.
Obviously a 2007 could now have all sorts of issues that could effect the price. The fact that its in an auction limits inspection. As a private buyer have a good think about what could be wrong and if you go for it have money in reserve to repair.

In these times they say that there is a shortage of good quality second hand stock out there even if its 15 years old. If the owner knew it was a good one, an approach to any MH trader would consider a bid if the van was sound. So ask yourself why has it not been grabbed by a dealer? and is now in an auction.

The fridge freezer is now 15 years old so may need some attention there are many issues but bought cheap enough and investment could bring about a good MH

In case you are not aware ,If you are able , It would be best to check the floor for rot as Swift had a problem with some models 2005 - 2007 when the wrong type of covering was used underneath the flooring causing damp / rot problems. I do not know if the Kon-tiki was effected and also many Swift Motorhomes had their floors replaced with a different material under warranty so it may be ok.

Just check as why is it at an auction 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is the usual trade monthly auction for liquidated businesses etc - that sort of stuff. There's nothing necessarily suspicious about why it is there - I've bought vehicles from there before without issue. I'll be able to view it Mon/Tues so will go and check it out.

You do realise that we now want/demand to see the hammer price? :giggle::giggle:

Best of luck anyway 🤞🤞

I'll update the topic, don't worry ;) Will post a bit more info once I've seen it tomorrow/tues. Doing a bit of research on it, it's a big beast. It's around 9m long though, which coming from 7m might be a bit too much. And not entirely sure about the tag axel.

We had a tag before the current Moho.
They are steady as rocks on the road & probably plated at 5ton. The extra 2m out the back of what you had before, is neither here nor there. The overhang is no worse than our single axle 7.5m van.
Personally I love the tag axle with the 3ltr engine.
Providing there’s no previously mentioned damp etc, you’ll never look back.

I loved the tag. They are the perfect van for long term accommodation as the space, in our case for two, was fantastic. Touring in the UK and staying on sites and Cls was perfect all year round. As the evenings may not be so warm you can go inside and still have plenty of room. IT was also very comfortable long term stopping in Spain during the Winter.

It was only after we started using the Tag on the continent that we started bumping into issues. We had a 1.5 m bike rack on the back this made the length around the 10.5m. Using Aires. we found many times we simply were too big. Fine for a quick stop over when the size would not impact too many people but many a time we blocked access for others. Being then in hotter climates also allowed us to sit out longer in the evenings and not needing the space the the van would give us.

So we sold that van and bought a 7.5m Carthago with a large Garage. We spend much longer in warmer countries (Prior to Covid) but yes the extra living area at times is missed.

Lots to think about if you are to get one. Very stable to drive

The very same route and conclusion as us. :giggle:

I wonder how much an extra meter of MH actually weighs? 100kg?

All the appliances and services are the same.

I preferred the 3.00 engine in my first 669 to the 2.3 that I have in the new one. Both return 25 mpg but the 3.0 which was remapped to 210hp was a much better pulling engine, only ever touched the throttle not like the 2.3 which needs to be revving higher to be in the torque band.. However the later one does have Alde and lots more spec.

Just an update for those interested. In the end, I decided not to go for it - it's a whole lot of van, and after having a look around it, it's just a bit too much for our current bimbling about in the Drifter. Looks like an amazing van for being away for long spells - will definitely consider something like that in a few years once we've got the kids packed off and can vanish for longer periods.

Anyway - it went for £27k hammer price (no VAT, conditional sale), which including fees would work out about £29k all in.

(I'll be keeping an eye to see if it turns up at any of the local dealers for £40k in 3 weeks time!!)

20k in 15 years must have spent most of its life standing around. Be prepared for some expensive bills.

Sorry I didn't notice this thread before I started the other one on same topic.

Agree it was a nice looking van and I'd say someone got a bargain there if the owner has agreed to sell for that price.

We have a 2000 Autotrail Chieftain, TAG, totally agree for the same reasons, When tugging we always had twin axle 'vans, so much more stable as well

I expect that's the reason they were called Kon-tiki, just like the raft, water comes up through the floor :ROFLMAO:
