Hoping to travel up to Norway April, May, June time going from Hook of Holland up through Germany and Denmark and then over the Oresund Bridge to Malmo. Thereafter not too sure of our route. One possibility is to go upto Sundsvall and then cross over to Norway via the E14 and the other idea would be to go further up the Swedish coast to Holmsund and cross over to Mo i Rana via the E12. From there we may go as far north as Bodo before turning south via the Atlantic Road. I guess by the time we do this part of the journey it will at least second half of May. What are the E14 and E12 roads like? I've seen some photos of the E14 and that looks a really good road but don't know anything about the E12. Would we need All Season / Snow tyres at that time of year? Any thoughts very much appreciated.

We will be travelling to Norway at a similar time to you, so I will be interested to see what replies you receive.

Are you thinking north to south or south to north in Norway. I'm not sure having read a few other threads.

Keep going up to Narvik and then go through the Lofoten Islands to the ferry back to Bode. A MUST.
Get a Norwegian toll tracker to pay the tolls and get discounts on ferries
Try Nortrip app (France Passion for Norway), great, quiet spots usually alone and the associated Nortrip dumps app
Think about wild camping (legal in parking stops unless marked otherwise.
Get drunk often before you leave so you won't need alcohol while you are there (I couldn't get myself to pay £30 for a bottle of wine I knew I could get for £12, so Norway was good for my liver).

Should have said Umea not Holmsund for the E12

We haven’t decided the thinking at the moment is to focus on the southwest area maybe up as far as Trondheim. Now booked the ferry from Harwich 24th. April.

Will read this with interest as we plan to do the same in 2026.

We visited Sweden, Finland and Norway during April, May and June last year.
In April many of the Norwegian high routes were still impassable because of late snow and in June everywhere was extremely busy.
Nevertheless it was a great trip, incredibly beautiful.
Enjoy!

We left Harwich same day as you and currently in Linköping, tomorrow onto Stockholm for the weekend. We’ll cross over into Norway either to Trondheim (probably) or to Mo i Rana (unlikely).

We'll be in Denmark early next week and into Norway at the end of the week.
Regarding booze, the import of beer below 2.5 % is unrestricted so I'll be arriving with a plentiful supple of 0.0% product, and the permitted dozen cans of regular stuff for special occasions

We are at Hirtshals now for tomorrows ferry, looking at the sea we could be in for a bouncy crossing if this wind keeps up.
