I know it is 'the dark side' but, my sister has just been given 6 months to remove her static van from a site in Brampton, Carlisle area as the site owners are going to start selling their site as residential only.
So a question please, does anyone living in that area know of any sites that will accept older static vans, my sisters van is 17 years old and she can ill afford to buy another, let alone one of the newer residentials the guy is 'offering'.
Many thanks for advice offered.

Unable to assist, but I think we are all aware that most sites have a limit on the age of a static, and for many that is about 15 years.

Realistically she needs to find some land ideally on a local farm where she can claim to be an agricultural worker, and get a 5 year lease or something similar.
(I presume buying a field and setting up a market garden is beyond her means ? As you can then claim to be an agricultural worker, but there is a minimum size needed)

She also needs to read her tenancy document carefully.
A landlord can issue a section 21, but it has loads of caveats on it,
but at best that would only be a stay of execution.

Another 'off the wall' suggestion.
Is there student accomodation close by?

A mate of mine rented a large house with a load of other students. (In a city with tens of thousands of other students/Student houses)
In the garden there was a large caravan which was occupied by a mature student doing a PhD.
He had been there for quite a few years, he paid ground rent to the landlord and paid his share of the electricity bill, but other than that, they did not see him from one week to the next.

I only got to talk to him as the students decided to have BBQ in the garden one evening, he of course was invited and provided a slab of cold beer.
Interesting bloke, a perennial student.

The question would be finding the right landlord ......

It's a shame but the reality is that at that age it's unlikely to be accepted onto another site and if sold, will fetch nowhere near the price she possibly paid for it. Owning a static in the UK is an absolute scam in my opinion, unless you can get onto an older established site, still run by the owner who values his 'tenants'.

We hear lots of chatter about protecting tenants rights etc it's a shame this doesn't extend to static caravans, in the world of renting homes, just because something is written in a rental contract/ lease agreement, it doesn't mean it forms part of the contract and is unenforceable if it's an 'unfair' term. Why can't that be applied to any 'rental agreement'?

Put in up for sale in a construction website
That's probably the best place sadly its an old van no matter how loved.

When the site changed hands where ours was the owner said too old uped the site fees
Father said I'll sell it then owner offered silly money father sad no thanks
He sold it privately when he told site they said oh there's a removal fee again silly money
Father explained ..politely
That they were coming to collect and if it wasn't released with any issues he set fire to it.

It was removed by the new owners ...no charge no problem
