Spain , Black fly bites , serious stuff

Just read this on my computer Home Page , This Black fly does not bite in the normal sense , its acts as a saw ,injects a Anaesthetic into you so you will probably not noticed it having a go at you , can cause serious health problem could end up in hospital , if you notice it having ago do not scratch it , this fly is in quite a few regions , Valencia , Murcia ,Andalusia etc. that's what I read don't know much more about it ,but, at top of artical it says it's from HullLive whatever that is

Just back from Spain (Almeria, Andalusia) where I got bitten on the arm, which swelled up for a few days. Don't think it was one of those and don't think it was a mosquito either - so no idea really. More like the type of bite I've had occasionally in the UK from a horse-fly.

The Black fly sounds pretty unpleasant.

We were bitten by something that seemed different from mosquitos. I don't usually feel bites from mosquitos but I did with these things. They were at Guardamar South of Alicante. Real painful bite, reminded me of the dreadful NZ sandfly.

Flies that bite have been a problem the 20 years we have lived here. Impossible to sit outside without swatters,spray,etc. If I have nothing to put on any exposed skin I use fly spray.

Bit like the Bott Fly - injects anaesthetic so it can lay an egg under the skin?
