Sony World Photography Awards 2014 shortlist

some interesting images but give me a good landscape image anyday
 
One or two didn't work for me but the rest are brilliant. Glad my brain is still working and not closed for the night!
 
A couple of the formal portraits including the orangutan are the weakest for me. Most of the others are absolutely superb, the judges have their work cut out this year, I can't choose one, but it would be between The Fighter, the Vakil Baths, the Young Warriors and the Pilgrim gathering. The bride shot is beautiful and would win any wedding comp.
 
None there I would hang on my walls.

The Vikal baths makes me go cross eyed.

It shows how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would have shot my wedding photographer if he took me with that expression on my face. I loved most of the others.

I'm sure he got some of her smiling too. :BigGrin::BigGrin: Whatever the moment was, I think the photographer caught it beatifully.

My wife sent her photograph to the Lonely Hearts Club. They sent it back saying they weren't that lonely. :BigGrin:

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the majority of pics there, but I liked the overhead shot of the skiers, which showed real foresight and creative imagination.
 
Is that the best the world can do !

I've seen much better on FUN, even by that Shifty character.
 
I found most to have character and substance, each telling a different story. Isn't this what they are judged on. The quality of the camera denotes the picture quality. The individual taking the picture can add much more.:thumb:

I think the bride had realised she had made the biggest mistake of her life and there was no turning back....:thumb:

Just goes to show we don't all like the same thing - thank goodness :Smile:
