Installing the SOG was going well despite being in a hurry and sweltering in 30-odd degrees of heat, right until the instructions said tap into the loom and use the Lucas connectors to connect red to red and black to black.

There were two possible looms to tap into, but one was almost inaccessible and looked less like a power supply than the other. But the other has one red and two black wires. I didn't spot that until I'd tapped into one of the black wires, and guess what? The fan doesn't run. This might be because I have go the wrong wire, or because my van is wired the alternative way mentioned in the instructions or because of something else, an unknown unknown.

I don't want to do any more chopping up of wires than I need, so does anyone know which wires I should be connecting to?

Fairly normal to connect it to the water pump supply, then if you leave the flap open when not in use the fan won't run when the pump switch is off.

Ditch those Scotchlok connectors they are an unreliable bodge, Wago connectors are far better.
