Planning a trip to Wales this summer and looking to visit the Snowden Railway.
Where is the best parking for a motorhome early in the morning?

There used to be a park right opposite the station, not cheap but very handy, don't know if it's still there though.

Apparently still there.

There is a huge carpark opposite the station although I seem to remember parking down the road a bit to the left.
Maybe I thought it was too expensive

Llanberis has a lot of car parks - just watch out for height barriers though.

The largest car park in Llanberis is the one opposite the train station which is owned by the Victoria Hotel next door to it & was still there last summer - it makes a lot of money being in such a prime spot so is highly unlikely to ever be closed. If you want to double check suggest calling the train station as sure they will know any details https://snowdonrailway.co.uk/ - having organised group trips on the mountain railway I've always found their Facebook messaging service to be very good https://www.facebook.com/SnowdonMountainRailway & best for a speedy reply. That car park gets busy mid morning but should be fine if early based on what we saw last year.

They have stopped calling it Snowdon. Presumably this is to discourage English only speakers from;
a) finding the place and
b) being able to buy tickets.
😀

Massive car park by the lake. It gets busy though as do all the car parks in llanberis on weekends and bank holidays. How big is your van?

Yes I have seen that one on Google street view. The sign says coaches and campers by prior arrangement. Maybe changed now

It is a 7.5m Moho and we will be there early morning.

If you can fit in a space or overhang the back over grass, you can park in the slate museum for about a fiver. It’s worth a visit in its own right. 👍

I didn't think they allowed tourers any more. Best bet then us to walk to the main road and get the bus. They are very frequent. Cym y glo.

We got the bus because we didn't find Llanberis at all motorhome friendly and parking is at a real premium all day in mid summer.

So the French, Germans, Dutch etc are also struggling.... Really...

No idea, I am bad at languages. I did see a Welsh road sign today with “Sgidio” on it which seems a great word for skidding so perhaps there is still hope for me. 😀

83% of the Welsh won’t understand it so just call it Snowdon like they do :ROFLMAO:

We've just been to Snowdon mountain railway Wednesday and parked opposite cost us £11, found cheaper one round the corner, the lakes by the lake railway is £6 a day or of your go further down past the parc in the slate museum they charge£5 a day but its a 400 mtr walk From there you can catch the train around the lake from there too.

I doubt it..
Skid
From Middle English *skid, from Old Norse skíð (“a billet of wood, a beam or plank on which something rests”), from Proto-Germanic *skīdą (“log, clapboard”), from Proto-Indo-European *skey-t-, *skey-

What do you doubt? The sign had “Skidding” in English and “Sgidio” in Welsh.

We were there two weeks ago and opted to stay over in Caernarfon and bus it in. Only took 20 mins and very cheap. We did this because we were told by the railway that tickets sell out fast online and the chances of getting a ticket at the station on the day was very slim. We didn't want to buy the tickets in advance then not be able to park. When we got there every train was sold out and the car park opposite was completely full, so it was a good move. The closer to summer the busier it gets I imagine. Also lots of reports online about people receiving £60 fines in that car park despite buying a ticket! Wasn't aware of the other car parks though.
