The dish won't go to the Home position. When I press OK to seeing Astra 2 the dish starts to move then says EL ERROR and then switches off.
Hope it folds when I start to move or I'm going home with it extended!

have you pressed the home button, top left hand corner

Had a similar problem with ours where it wouldn't go back down and it turned out to be the home switch on the base of the mount, the rubberized switch that the dish presses on when it goes right down. Might need to poke it a couple of times to free it. It's caused by the switch not releasing when the dish rises so confuses it.

Yes, have pressed the HOME button. The error is actually EL LIMIT ERROR then switches itself off. I've tried the MODE to do the error check for EL but that didn't let me close it down.

I take it you have switched it off and on to clear it? This is from the instructions.

I physically unplugged the 12v cable from the Controller rather than just switching it off and left it overnight. On re-plugging and switching on, pressing the Home button parked the dish perfectly.
I'd forgotten the bloody remote anyway, but the Wife doesn't know that!

I have the opposite problem. The dish will not come out. In the test mode it comes out goes round and back then tells me all is OK. When I try to search again it says EL error then switches off.

Is your software up to date?

Have you tried pulling the power lead out leaving for a while, then retrying?

About 6 years ago I think
It very likely needs updated, you should be able to update it via USB, been numerous updates in last 6 years.

Can it be updated via a samsung mobile phone.
Not to my knowledge. If your control panel is round d/l the update file onto a usb and insert the usb into the C/P and follow on screen instructions. It was very easy.

One note on upgrading it won't reconise large memory sticks certainly won't work with a 64gb not sure about a 16gb I use an old 4gb one.

Yip, but from memory I might have used an 8Gb one(?).

Probably giving it a few pokes will free it off. Ours was returned to Germany for repairs but I suspect if you strip it down you will find a standard type of micro or push switch under the rubber cover.

Assuming a "C" type controller this is how you do it.

:welco:
You download the file from the selfsat site, it's a zip file.
Not sure why you mention XP you only need to download the file unzip and load to the root directory on a USB stick.
